"Boss Baby," Will? Really? That was terrible lol. Even my infant was offended by its stupidity.

I saw "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri" last night and it was a minor masterpiece. Directed by Martin McDonagh ("In Bruges," "Seven Psychopaths"), it tells the story of a rough-around-the-edges Missouri woman (a perfect Frances McDormand) whose daughter was raped and killed. After a year of inaction by the local police department, she rents space on three billboards leading into their small town, with the messages: "Raped While Dying," "No Arrests," and "How Come, Sherrif Donoughy?" Very much in the vein of the Coen Brothers' best, this is a GREAT movie -- it is at turns funny, sad, horrifying, shocking, and McDonagh's script makes poetry out of profanity in ways that only early-era Tarantino could. The performances are Oscar-worthy across the board, but big time props go out to Frances McDormand, Woody Harrelson, and (typically) Sam Rockwell. The absolute highest recommendation.

"Lady Bird" - The 100% Rotten Tomatoes score is no joke. In some ways, it's a typical coming-of-age story, but Greta Gerwig's movie eventually becomes its very own thing. Great performances, great script, great movie. Also highly recommended. As a matter of fact, do what I did -- do a theater-hop double feature of both "Three Billboards" and "Lady Bird" and you'll see two of the very best films of the year in one swoop.

Alec Baldwin cashing easy paychecks DOES have its own fuzzy appeal, but favorite movie might be a bit of a stretch.

I agree. I think Blade Runner 2049 is one of those movies that a lot of people will miss the first time, but really come to appreciate a lot more over time - one of those movies that becomes a really big deal long after leaving the big screens...and a lot of people will regret not having seen it during its first run.

I need to go see it again while it's still in theaters.

Early The Last Jedi reviews have been insanely good. I will reserve judgement until I see it Friday but I am extremely encouraged. As good or better than Empire I have heard. That's a bold statement.

likely headed out this weekend for Jumanji and POSSIBLY Star Wars the Last Jedi.

Rian Johnson is cool. His episodes of "Breaking Bad" are awesome, and both "Brick" and "Looper" are good movies.

"The Last Jedi" is an odd case: most of the fans seem to be completely divided on it, while the critics seem to love it. I don't really care about "Star Wars" one way or the other, but I'm curious to watch it just to see how it works.

I have yet to see it as my work schedule has been hectic to say the least. We are gonna see it Tuesday afternoon. The youtube reviews I have read are very divided. There seems to be no middle ground. People either love it or hate it. It was the same for TFA and I loved that movie.

Saw The Last Jedi... I'll go out of my way to be generous.

It is sporadically interesting. If you think it is "as good as" or belongs on "the same list" as the original 3... Shut. up.

My sense is that people who just like the feeling of watching a Star Wars movie and visually interesting action set pieces will like this thing fine. I think that AT BEST it is a potentially interesting story told poorly and 5 sub-plots that are terrible. Taken together the movie doesn't work very well. At worst, it is a TEXT BOOK example of everything wrong with modern cinematic story telling and script writing.

                        The big problems
                        1. As I mentioned this wasn't a good story and it was poorly (awkwardly told) with bizarre writing and directorial choices. Most of the cast needs something to do so there can be a movie and they fill the void by doing dumb things.
                        2. Like most modern films that don't trust their audience the characters are RELENTLESSLY EXPLAIN THE PLOT TO THE AUDIENCE RATHER THAN DOING THINGS.
                        3. In the most ham-fisted and self congratulatory way, this movie takes what should be sub-textual social commentary and turns it into a script, smashing the audience in the face with it OVER AND OVER again. I felt like Jiminy Cricket and Tinker-bell had a gun to the writers head demanding that various "wish upon a star" tropes be injected at the end of each act. STOP TELLING ME WHAT TO THINK AND FEEL. LET THE AUDIENCE COME TO THEIR OWN CONCLUSIONS!

                        Smaller problems

                        1. None of the comedy works. At all.
                        2. Classic trilogy characters make odd or out of character choices.
                        3. I don't like most of the new characters. (At all)
                        4. It would be a spoiler.

If find all of the new Star Wars movies to be gross wastes of potential.

                        YMMV.

The original Star Wars was my generations special effects 'oh wow!' movies.
kinda what these are for this age group.
I kinda doubt I will make a special gotta run to see it

Lol....saving that for 'the Incredibles 2'😁

                              Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.

I've always thought the original Jumanji was a pretty great family movie. I showed it to my daughter a couple of years ago and I've never seen a person have such a pleasurable reaction to a movie. This new reboot takes four stock high school characters, throws them into the bodies of famous actors, and milks that conceit for all its worth. There are a couple of extremely funny sequences, but for the most part this is just a move that sort of exists. The action sequences aren't as exciting as in the original simply because they aren't as surprising, the bad guy is pure stock, and by the second half the jokes grow a little stale.

                              Recommended but just slightly.

I did say it was sporadically interesting with great visual action set pieces...

After sleeping on it, the Mouse needs to give this franchise to the creative team behind LEGO Ninjago. My eldest watches those and while they drive me nuts and are annoying beyond words, they never fail to impress me with their narrative structure and story telling.
