    Hunkering Down Time

I'd say we've got around three inches, here, and it's still snowing hard. Add to that the fact that the Weather Channel is predicting a low of three blow zero tonight. Stay safe and warm my friends.

We only got about 3 inches here in our part of Louisville, and expect it to get very cold tonight. But as long as we have popcorn and firewood, I don't care how deep it gets.

The weekend seems so far away, as does Spring.

I work outside so you guys need to feel sorry for me. I am ready for Spring. My body just aches too much anymore when it's this cold.

I don't know how old you are, but if you like the company you work for, or just have too much time in to leave, you need to be trying to move inside, if that's possible. You're probably already aware of this, but the older you get the harder, on you, the cold is going to be.

Best time of the year. About 5 inches of snow on the ground at home. Spent yesterday evening shoveling the driveway, then a stroll in the neighborhood with a cigar.
Extremism is so easy. You've got your position, and that's it. It doesn't take much thought. And when you go far enough to the right you meet the same idiots coming around from the left.

I love snow storms. We have a 1.5 acre lot with a nice sledding hill in the back that I can't wait to take my son down when he gets a little bigger.

Praying for you BH. I grew up on a farm and I'm very aware of what it's like to work in the cold. Farmers are always out in it taking care of stock and a lot of other stuff. It didn't bother me so much then, but I want no part of the cold now.

Funny how it goes round. When I was a kid I loved the snow. Seemed like up until mid 70s we got at least one 6-10 inch snow here around Trenton every year. Then it switched more to ice storms...and since I was working I didn't care as much for it.
Since I'm trying the retirement thing I can look at this about 11 inch total snow on the ground and say "wow...how beautiful".
Blue Heaven, my dad milked cows for a man from the time I was 5 until my mid 20s, then worked on the farm for that family.
Never missed a day's work. Never complained.
Even when he was walking the fields at 1 am getting the cows up. So I know well what you're facing. Keep bundled, my friend.

Fixin to be 47 right shortly. I used to love the cold/snow. Got back last Sunday from my first of two annual winter campouts. I am still paying the price it seems. Ugh. I ain't young anymore!

Lol....I think it's a God thing partner....when we are young we are indestructible and laugh at the weather. When we get older we laugh at ourselves for ever thinking we were indestructible.

Depends. I'm 54 and still love winter. Hiked in Utah last fall but would be there in a heartbeat to hike right now in the snow. I don't get out in the field to do surveying much anymore, but when there's a chance in the winter, I'll jump on it.

Hiking in the snow is incredible.

There's a nature area in our neighborhood that looks borderline creepy in normal weather. Weird place and I'm sure Satanic murders have occurred there.

In snow? It's magical. I like to just take the dog there and stand. Something about the sound of a forest in snow is intoxicating.

But the driving this week has been pretty sketchy. Our driveway is a steep hill that's impossible to thaw in these temperatures, and I'm convinced the world's strongest man couldn't shovel it adequately, so to get in my garage I have to take two laps around the neighborhood and then gun it right at the bottom. I'll sometimes come into the garage nearly sideways. Always fun.
