Had another person fall over the weekend. He was camping and tripped and fell 80 feet. The news said no life threatening injuries so that is good news. That place demands so much respect it isn't funny. You must be on your toes at all times.

Drove down to Kevin Hall's neck of the woods on Saturday, visiting Kingdom Come State Park for the first time. I bet that place is spectacular in fall. I tried to upload a photo but the size limit prohibited me from doing so.

Went to rock bridge with the kiddies on Sat. First "hike" for the eldest. He seemed to like it.

Holy smokes it was crowded, reminded me why I only go there between Nov and Feb.

Yeah, it can be pretty awful in the warmer months. I went all the time when I was in college, and Miguel's was always packed but beyond that it was only crowded at Natural Bridge and Sky Bridge.

Now, thanks to the tourism marketing and the rising popularity in general, it seems like everyone goes to the gorge on a nice weekend. Trying to camp out at a camp ground can be a nightmare.

Do any of you guys climb? I'm doing some gym climbing tonight and tomorrow, but I've yet to climb outside this year.

Heck no. I love to hike, and I'll scramble up a hill if needed, but no way on god's green earth am I climbing up a cliff.

Yes. Or more accurately used to. I made my living for a time as a climbing guide and instructor and when I was in college and shortly after climbing was about all I did.

Nice. The Gorge, mostly, or elsewhere?

I learned to climb and guided mostly in North Carolina. (Primarily Looking Glass Rock and Linville Gorge.) I made several personal trips out to Yosemite and did some advanced scouting there for a boys summer camp trip but never guided there. I did climb in the RRG quite a bit while in school at UK (it was an impediment to graduating on time) I was never a very good sport climber though. I was most at home doing long granite crack climbing.

Pretty much I have climbed about every where in the southeast with the exception of Seneca. (Never made it over there)

When I had kids, I let my AMGA cert laps so... I am a shadow of my former climbing self.

Go back a bit in this thread and I posted a remedy. Works great.

                              Very nice, Matt
Extremism is so easy. You've got your position, and that's it. It doesn't take much thought. And when you go far enough to the right you meet the same idiots coming around from the left.

Incredible views. The variation in landscapes/geographical regions across our state is amazing.
