We took a trip to Moab, Utah end of September. That first picture reminds me of the clouds and backdrop at Arches National Park the first day we were there.
Extremism is so easy. You've got your position, and that's it. It doesn't take much thought. And when you go far enough to the right you meet the same idiots coming around from the left.

I am able to post photos from my phone, so when I have a chance I’ll put up some more that I have from previous visits. On the old thread we had a bunch of good’uns.

Surveyor I had somehow managed to miss those photos, they're certainly appeasing! Hope to go back to RRG this week and get out to my favorite areas. Nothing new per se, just hitting my sweet spots.

And what are your sweet spots? Mine are Auxier Ridge and Indian Staircase.

I went to Auxier Ridge the last two times I've been there. I like to park at Koomer Ridge and go to Buck Trail, then to Pinch 'Em tight, to Rough Trail and out to Hanson's Point, then back to Koomer Ridge via Rough Trail. I think that's about 8 miles or so, but there are some changes in elevation so it's a little bit of work. I also love Swift Camp Creek if you aren't afraid of road walkin' or of hiding a bicycle somewhere. One of these days I will walk up Indian Staircase like you guys have done

Of course you could see the staircase and the shelter without ever walking up it. Just do it in reverse.

It isn't much of a hike but half moon arch is fun to get out on. Especially on a starry cold night. Avoid going to the base, it looks like a land fill.

Getting on top of Long Wall is also a relatively untraveled nice place to see. A little strenuous to get there.

Drive 1.4 miles down County Road 1067 from the steel bridge on KY 77 and pass a sharp left bend in the road. At the next slight bend to the right there is a very small pulloff on the left for parking. Across the road is the approach trail which uses an old obscure logging road that angles back sharply toward the direction from which you came. Head up the trail past a rock band and meet the wall at Cruisemaster.
If you aren't a climber, once you are at the cliff base, hike left along the wall until it breaks down and you find an obvious scramble route to the top. Rope not necessary, but... use caution and don't fall.

My first time at the Gorge in the early 90's, we actually camped off the trail to Half Moon. When I saw what had to be done to get to the top I chickened out. Haven't been back since to it. I figure if I can do Indian Staircase or Cloudsplitter then I should be able to scramble Half Moon.

My wife has been to Red River Gorge with her family as a teenager.
Ive not yet been. Ive wanted to go but never find the time. All the pics and posts make it inviting.
Wife's cousin builds shipping container homes and has a vacation home (container) in the gorge.

Shipping container homes. That's interesting. I always thought they would make good storm shelters/doomsday bunkers. Years ago, my work went to cardboard containers when shipping to Puerto Rico because the residents were coming on airport property and stealing the old fiberglass containers to live in. You'd be surprised what can make a home.

The gills were a little further out than normal this time of year. Sunny side of the lake, 15-20 feet off the bank fishing 3-4 foot deep. Got wind whipped but it was worth it. Meal worms and wax worms under slip bobbers.
