I came across a video I had taken of my mom singing along to this song. She had a beautiful voice and it was from her era. She passed away last year.

So now, I’m listening to this...Patti Page and Tennessee Waltz:

Awesome. I'm of the age that this genre and time frame resonates with me. I noticed the name Pee Wee King. One of the greats of Country & Western music. Great post, capcat. That's why I post so many songs from the '50's & '60's. It stirs the memories.

Thanks for bringing that up, Matt. I love his music, and reading about his connections to Kentucky. I’ll be on the look out for him in old cowboy movies, something I like to watch.

I think I’ll order one of Pee Wee King’s albums. A friend got me an old table top record player and many old albums. That kind of music brings something good to a day.

The Captain and the Kid - Havana Daydreaming album - Jimmy Buffett

The record company execs did not like the last verse of the song because "the old man dies" and they asked that Buffett rewrite the verse. Buffett flat refused, as the song was an homage to his grandfather, who had passed.

Extremism is so easy. You've got your position, and that's it. It doesn't take much thought. And when you go far enough to the right you meet the same idiots coming around from the left.
