    Football Question # 10.

K1's punt strikes the ground at team R's one yardline and bounces so that it breaks the plane of the goalline. Before the ball hits the ground, K2 bats the ball back into the field of play. The ball rolls out of bounds at team R's two yardline. During the kick, R3 holds at team R's 25 yardline.

    A. The ball was dead when K2 batted it.
    B. The ball was still live when K2 batted it.
    C. The penalty is enforced from team R's goalline.
    D. The penalty is enforced from team R's 20 yardline.

D only. The ball was dead when it broke the plane of the goal line, not because it was batted.

Suggestion. When you read this question carefully, it indicates there are 2 correct answers.

The correct answers to question # 10

              is, B & D for College, and A & D for HS.

              RULE 6; Kicks.

              SECTION 3. Scrimmage Kicks.
              Beyond the Neutral Zone
              ARTICLE 2. a.
No inbounds player of the kicking team shall touch a scrimmage kick that has crossed the neutral zone before it touches an opponent. Such illegal touching is a violation that, when the ball becomes dead, gives the receiving team the privilege of taking the ball at the spot of the violation (Exception:
              Rule 6-3-4) (A.R. 2-12-2-I and A.R. 6-3-2-I).
              b. This privilege is canceled if there is an accepted penalty for a live-ball foul by either team (A.R. 6-3-2-I-IV, A.R. 6-3-11-I-III and A.R. 10-1-4-VII).
              c. The privilege is canceled if there are offsetting fouls.
              d. Illegal touching in Team A’s end zone is ignored.

Loose Behind the Goal Line—ARTICLE 11
              Approved Ruling 6-3-11
              I.
Team A snaps at the 50-yard line and punts. The kick is untouched beyond the neutral zone when A88 reaches across Team B’s goal line and bats the ball back into the field of play, and it rolls out of bounds at the B-4. RULING: No foul for batting the ball in the end zone. Illegal touching. The spot of the violation is the B-20. Team B’s ball, first and 10 at the B-20.
