    Football Question # 8.

Second and 20 at team A's 20 yardline. A1 drops back to pass. B2 holds eligible receiver A3 at team A's 35 yardline. With no receiver open, A1 is downed at his own 10 yardline. The next play will be:

    A. First and 10 for team A from its own 30 yardline.
    B. Second and 10 for team A from its own 30 yardline.
    C. First and 10 for team A from its own 25 yardline.
    d. Second and 20 for team A from its own 20 yardline.

Assuming a referee observed the holding call and threw a flag, team A gets 10 yards from line of scrimmage and an automatic first down. Therefore, A.

Maybe I should clarify something I assumed. Because the questions are taken from the Officials test, when a foul or violation is mentioned, it should be considered a flag was thrown.

My bad. I was just goofing off. No harm intended. I truly enjoy the posts. I'll behave.

I thought so, and always voice your opinion of the officials. I just want to keep this Forum focused on rules and interpretations.

it depends on whether the penalty is accepted or not.

                    (a) 20-yard line, when a foul occurs after a change of team possession in
the end zone and the result of the play is a touchback.
