    Football Question # 3.

Midway through the first quarter, team A has the ball, second and nine at its own 21 yardline. Runner A1 advances to team A's 28 yardline and fumbles. The ball bounces high into the air. B2 leaps, grabs the ball while he is airborne and returns to the ground touching the sideline at team A's 30 yardline. As a resule:

    A. It's first and 10 for team B at team A's 30 yardline.
    B. It's first and ten for team A from its 30 yardline.
    C. It's third and two for team A at its 28 yardline.
    D. The game clock starts on the snap.
    E. The game clock starts on the ready.

This will be the only time I give this hint. This is a multi-answer question.

    C. Team B didn't recover in bounds. Team A can't benefit from a forward fumble.

The correct answer to question # 3

            is C & E for NCAA, and B & D for HS.

            RULE 2; Definitions.

            SECTION 4. Catch, Recovery, Possession.
            ARTICLE 3. a.
To catch a ball means that a player:
            1. Secures control of a live ball in flight with his hands or arms before the
            ball touches the ground, and
            2. Touches the ground in bounds with any part of his body, and then
            3. Maintains control of the ball long enough to enable him to perform an act
common to the game, i.e., long enough to pitch or hand the ball, advance it,
avoid or ward off an opponent, etc.

RULE 3; Periods, Time Factors and Substitutions.

SECTION 3. Timeouts: Starting and Stopping the Clock.
            d.
Starts on the Snap. For each of the following, the game clock is stopped on an official’s signal. If the next play begins with a snap, the game clock will start on the snap:

RULE 7; Snapping and Passing the Ball.

SECTION 2. Backward Pass and Fumble.
            Out of Bounds
            ARTICLE 4. a.
Backward Pass. When a backward pass goes out of bounds
between the goal lines, the ball belongs to the passing team at the out-of-bounds spot.
            b. Fumble. When a fumble goes out of bounds between the goal lines:
            1. In advance of the spot of the fumble, the ball belongs to the fumbling
team at the spot of the fumble
