    Football Question # 5.

First and 10 for team A from its own 20 yardline midway through the first quarter. A1 fumbles at team A's 25 yardline. The ball rolls forward and out of bounds at team A's 29 yardline.

    A. It will be second and five for team A from its 25 yardline.
    B. It will be second and one for team A from its 29 yardline.

This rule, I think, has changed back and forth over the years. I will go with B just have a different answer.

I know "B" used to be correct, I think it still is.

The correct answer to question # 5,

is A for NCAA, and B for HS.

RULE 7; Snapping and Passing the Ball.

SECTION 2. Backward Pass and Fumble.
              Out of Bounds.
              ARTICLE 4.

              b. Fumble. When a fumble goes out of bounds between the goal lines:
              1. In advance of the spot of the fumble, the ball belongs to the fumbling team at the spot of the fumble (Rule 3-3-2-e-2).
              2. Behind the spot of the fumble, the ball belongs to the fumbling team at the out-of-bounds spot.
