Peyton Manning to retire after 18 NFL seasons

After earning a record five MVP awards and, finally, his second Super Bowl trophy, Peyton Manning will retire from the NFL.
He will make the official announcement on Monday, according to the Broncos.

I realize this isn't UK related, but I felt it was worthy of a mention. I'm glad he isn't going to hang on too long like so many have in the past.

The NFL may have retired him. I'm not sure anyone was interested in signing him. He went out on top and not many get to do that. He had a fine career. I'm sure we will see plenty of him on TV in future seasons as he seems a natural in front of the camera.

Just like he did in the training room at UT decades ago.
Extremism is so easy. You've got your position, and that's it. It doesn't take much thought. And when you go far enough to the right you meet the same idiots coming around from the left.

Definitely time to go. It would have been a shame to see him hang on for one more year because I don't believe he would've lasted. One of the best of All Time no doubt. Just 2 seasons ago, he had a ridiculous stat line. Something like 5,500 yards and 55 TDs. Insane numbers but he had regressed big time since.

As a lifelong Colts fan, I've just gotta tip my hat and say "thank you" to one of the greatest ever.

Glad he got to go out as a Super Bowl champion, the perfect exit for 18.

Reportedly, Manning is in negotiations with Lipton on a multimillion dollar endorsement deal.

I fully expect to see him in a broadcast booth this fall.
