Kentucky softball ends the weekend with consecutive losses

Last weekend, the Kentucky softball team opened the season strong, going 4-1 in their five opening games. This weekend didn't go as well. After getting a big win against a ranked Stanford team on Thursday night, things went downhill, and they finished the weekend with two straight losses.

On Friday, they faced Stanford in a rematch, and things didn't go the same way. The Wildcats offense was held in check, and they fell 7-1. Carly Sleeman had two hits, but they couldn't get runs across the plate.

Things were even tougher on Saturday. Kentucky played the Oregon Ducks and managed just one hit off the bat of Allie Blum, and the run rule was invoked in a 9-0 Wildcats loss. Hailey Nutter suffered her first loss of the year.

The Wildcats are now 6-4 on the season after a tough weekend. Next up, they'll head back to the Bluegrass State to take on Murray State. Then it's south to Memphis for another weekend series at the Blues City Invitational where they'll try to rebound.
