BATON ROUGE, La. – With two runs on a pair of hits in the bottom of the sixth inning in a tied game, the No. 4 LSU Tigers scored the go-ahead and eventual game-winning runs to beat No. 23 Kentucky 6-4 Saturday night to lock up the series at Tiger Park in Baton Rouge.
LSU scored three runs in the bottom of the second on a three-run home run to take a three-run lead and added a fourth in the bottom of the fifth. Kentucky came all the way back to tie the game at 4-4 in the top of the sixth inning as junior Maddy Clark hammered a two-RBI single into right field that scored Peyton Plotts and Allie Blum to square the proceedings. The Tigers then hammered a double and a HR off of Alexia Lacatena in relief of Sarah Haendiges in the sixth to go ahead and eventually take the game.
Game three of the series will be Sunday at 2 p.m. ET on the SEC Network+. LSU improves to 26-1 with the win Saturday night and is now 2-0 in the SEC. Kentucky falls to 17-9, 3-2 SEC.
