    MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL HAS AGREED TO INCREASE THE SIZE OF EACH BASE

    While Major League Baseball is reportedly making progress on a new CBA. Will we actually get a solution? I sure don't know and it doesn't seem like baseball



    I'm skeptical that part of it is a safety measure, reducing the instances of collisions at the bases.

    The primary reason is to increase offense and the experiment in Triple A ball seems to indicate a higher rate of successfully stolen bases - at least that's what I heard was part of the justification on ESPN radio. Still not a reason to justify making them larger.

    Extremism is so easy. You've got your position, and that's it. It doesn't take much thought. And when you go far enough to the right you meet the same idiots coming around from the left.

      I think it is a dying sport and they are changing the rules to facilitate offense to hopefully breath new life in.

          What would breath life into it is to facilitate shorter duration games. The pitch clock will help that. I think the number of commercial breaks impact the lengths of games, too. I think these sort of gimmick solutions are unnecessary.

          Also making it more affordable for a family to go to the ballpark would go a long way. Baseball and TV viewing don't mix. I much more enjoy a game being at the park. You can see how fielders adjust for each batter versus the bits and pieces that TV viewing offer.

          I will say there's a difference in college baseball - softball on TV versus MLB and I think part of that is fewer commercials as well as there's a whole lot more enthusiasm on the part of the college athlete versus the average MLB player.

              I agree with the pitch clock and commercials. I think the season it too long as well…

                  I think all professional sports' post-seasons are too long. 30 years ago the Super Bowl was still played in the third or fourth Sunday in January. The World Series should be over by the third week of October. Now it's into early November.
