They have an 80%+ accuracy rate so maybe they do know a little something.

Also, Zion changes announcement time. I don't think UK is the pick but this certainly doesn't seem to help.

The timing of Zion Williamson’s announcement is a big source of speculation, and after a little digging, I’ve discovered that it will go head-to-head with Kentucky’s game vs. Florida on ESPN’s networks. An ESPN representative tells me Zion’s announcement will be televised at 8:15 p.m. on SportsCenter on ESPN2. Previously, it was scheduled for 8 […]

My point on the crystal ball is that there are a lot of recruits who don't really keep their recruitments close to the vest. They talk, staffs talk, and the recruiting guys know. You can usually take what they say about those recruits to the bank, but since it's obvious anyway, there's no need to really pay attention to them about those guys. Guys like Michael Kidd-Gilchrist come to mind when talking about these "everybody knows" recruits.

Guys like Zion, Jamal Murray, and Kevin Knox, who keep their recruitments incredibly tight, are a different story. Guys "in the know" like Evan Daniels have gone on record as saying that they don't really know about Zion, just making a semi-educated guess. They don't really know much more about his decision than any of us, because they don't have good info about it. It is, however, part of their job description to make guesses, so they do.

Again, Zion might go to Clemson, and I won't be surprised, but I'm not giving any credit on this one to those guys in the Crystal Ball.

Yeah, I agree with a lot of this. I certainly don't think the Crystal Ball is the greatest thing out there. But, I think it is usually pretty accurate, especially right before a guy announces. Are there surprises, unexpected choices? Of course there are. But with Zion, I think it would be an even bigger surprise than Knox picking UK if Zion were to choose UK at this point.

It would be a way bigger shock with Zion because never with Knox did you have a clear leader. People have been saying Clemson for a good two or three weeks.

For Zion to choose Kentucky it would have to have been a carefully orchestrated smoke screen...or he just didn't know and the experts were running on speculation. Because I'm of the mind that these kids always know way earlier in the process than they let on, I have to think he's either staying in South Carolina (likely) or he's put together some sort of hype production so that he can get more clout by picking a different school at the end (unlikely).

The only reason I think Knox would be a bigger suprise than Zion is that nobody EVER picked Kentucky for Knox. They were barely even an afterthought. Zion was practically a Kentucky lock for the first two or three years of his major recruitment, which is why it would be even more surprising if Cal let somebody come in and swipe him away in the final year.

Lots of UNC chatter on Twitter today about Zion going there.

Could be the classic last minute noise but damn, if he ends up at UNC I may be done with college basketball.

Every player Cal sets his sights on , Duke now gets the 1st pick of the litre. Coack K turned the tide (Barret, zion,Bagley, etc, etc), if Cal cant recruit, what else can he do?

Good enough Duke landed the top 3 players, Cal losing epically to Coack K now...

If I am reading the following article correctly, Zion wasn't considering UK. What are others opinions?

UK wasn’t even an option for Zion. Duke, UNC, Clemson, and USC were the schools he was considering.

And to think last year Zion to UK was considered a lock by most. Would love to know what in the hell is going on with Cal.
