Deandre Ayton to Announce at 6:00 Today (UPDATE: Ayton Commits to Arizona)

Sort of a surprising turn of events.

Ayton is the #1 recruit in the 2017 class. He'll announce today between Kansas, Kentucky, and Arizona.

His whole recruitment has been strange and my gut says Kentucky isn't the pick. Kansas looks to have been in on him the hardest.

There are questions about whether he'll play in college.

If he were to commit to us, we will have gotten a guy described as being as physically impressive as a young Lebron James and the #1 recruit...and I know nothing about him. Such is life when you're spoiled by Calipari.

I've seen people say he might be the most talented high schooler since LeBron. Maybe the most talented big man in the Rivals/Scout era.

I know there were some things very early on about him where it was pretty clear he didn't want to go to college. Then Kansas got on him, and there was a time when they were really the only school that seemed to be involved.

For that reason a person would have to think they're the team to beat, but really who knows about this. Very strange turn of events.

I did not expect this at all. Figured Kansas with UK having a last minute shot.

Rather see him go to Arizona than Kansas, for sure.

But it's ultimately a moot point, as I don't see him ever playing college basketball.

If that does end up being the case, it will be ANOTHER lost recruit for Sean Miller at Arizona. Weird deal.
