STOKES TO KENTUCKY??

Stokes no longer in High school. Per KSR. He had fights with students several times and is no longer enrolled. No one really knows what will be next for him. Some saying mid season add for one of his schools. Others saying looking at other options. Then also saying he has issues with academics to get into school mid season.

I think we have an open scholarship, so a midseason add would be possible, if he is eligible.

Right now I'd lean way to 'no' until some of this odd stuff olive cleared up.

I realize there are situations where bringing a player in mid-season can be beneficial but I'm pretty leery of it. For one thing, it can mess team chemistry up.

It seems that attitude has always been an issue for this kid, unfortunately no matter the talent, that usually isn't worth the headaches.

Great talent but if he has as much baggage that's being reported, imo its not worth it. We'll see
if he goes to Kansas or oregon, it may be because Pope has backed off.

I’m not a “win at all costs” kind of guy. If he’s trouble then pass on him and get an extra guy through the portal. But I do hope Pope can get all the info and make a good read on what kind of person Stokes is. If he transfer to IMG or Montverde and tears it up this year, goes to KU and wins a title then hits the NBA and never causes any trouble we may feel like we missed on a good one.

Some kids are bad news. Some kids just get in a fight or 2. LA has both.

We probably get Stokes or Collins. Could see the starting five next year being:

G Lowe
G Johnson
G Chandler
F Stokes or Collins
F Moreno

6th man- Dioubate

Williams, Noah, Hawthorne, and Jelavic as rotation guys.

Potter and a couple of 3 to 4-star Freshmen/lower level portal guys for depth.

Would you rather have Stokes or everyone back?

I know they aren’t mutually exclusive, but if we sign Stokes, most likely we lose one or more players to the portal.

I’m personally torn, I want Stokes because he is potentially a superstar, but I value retention and believe these guys are going to be better in their second year in the system.

Hopefully, we can have both and everyone (that the staff wants back) returns and Stokes signs on to be the star of the show.

I’d say as long as a good, healthy PG is here with him I’d prefer to see what Pope could do with a top level star. As long as we’re only losing 1 or 2 guys to the portal as the trade off.

And still—that’s assuming the staff can confirm he’s a good kid, not a total punk. Seems like things are going quite well for him basketball-wise at his new school. He’s tearing it up.
