I always enjoy positive news for the Cats. But when an “analyst” makes a call on a kid with 35% confidence is he more concerned with being first or with being right?

Literally translates to “I want to be first to call this kid to UK but I think there’s a 65% chance I’m wrong.” 🤣

Be nice to add him, but it’s more critical that we get the talent we already have to come back.

We have 12 guys on scholarship that are eligible to return. We need to get 9-10 of those guys back, IMHO.

Retention is the key. That is how you build a championship team in this era. Elite level HS guys should be brought in to compliment the returning players, not be relied on to lead.

Give me 10 guys back from this roster and add a good backup PG either from the ‘26 recruiting class or the portal and I would be pretty happy. Quaintance is unlikely to return (as long as he is healthy all season) and word is Garrison was on a two year plan and isn’t expected to return. Get the rest of them back and add a backup PG, and you’ve got your rotation guys, for the most part.

If you can add a Stokes or Thompson to that, then even better.

        But the key is retention.

To be honest, I want Arafan Diane more than Stokes. He’s my number one target based on what I have seen and heard. He’s a beast inside and in Pope’s system could be dominant. 7’1 and close to 300 lbs and it looks like all muscle to me. He can score it and is a good passer. Everything about him screams “Pope style Big Man.”

I know they play different positions and can play together, but if I could only get one ‘26 player, it would probably be Diane.

Also, Stokes seems to be a bit dramatic and a bit of an attention seeker. The way he is throwing quotes out all the time. He is going to draw this recruitment out as long as he can and get as much attention as possible and then go to the highest bidder despite all the comments. I feel like he is leading us on and eventually he’ll end up at UofL or stay out west. It’s going to be about a paycheck with him. I’m okay with that and if he comes here, that’s great, if not, that’s fine too.

I’d love to get Diane, though. He’s the perfect fit at the 5. Split his minutes with a Sophomore Moreno and we are set in the middle.
