Do You Still Follow HS Recruiting? If So...

High school recruiting doesn't quite have the juice it did when we were posting our favorite mix tapes and tracking every comment made by every top-ten player. As we all know by now, the portal era has led to a dramatic shift in the way coaches build teams, and how we value the best incoming freshmen. HS recruiting is still important, though, and every class includes fascinating players that will make significant contributions to their team.

You may have noticed that this part of the board has been...quiet for the last few years, but we used to put in a lot of effort to keep up with Kentucky's targets. Are enough of you still interested in HS recruiting to justify a sub-forum for this year's class (and future classes)? If so, I'll start working on it this week. It'll include threads for each Kentucky target, and once they're there you can add links to interviews, film, etc. and discuss those players as much as you'd like.

Let me know if this is something you want, though. I don't want to put the time in if no one's interested, or if you're already getting the same information elsewhere (e.g., Discord).

With all emphasis on the portal, high school recruiting has taken a back seat. I still find it fascinating, and it remains an important part of what we're doing.

As always, thanks for keeping us abreast of all the recruiting scuttlebutt.

I pay attention to HS recruiting, but it’s not near as important as it use to be.

      The key to success:

      1. retention.
      2. portal transfers to fill in the blanks and for future retention.
      3. recruiting multi year HS players with potential for future retention.

      In that order.

Elite recruits are fine on occasion, but should not supersede the other options.

We still need to put emphasize on hs recruiting . We have to have some elite athleticism to add with 4 year and g league and over seas players.

We still need a good combination of player retention , transfer portal, and HS recruiting to win a Championship.

I care very little for high school recruiting. That being said, I like how you keep that kind of thing on it's own recruiting board. That way, if something does interest me, I'll come here and check it out.
