I could not care any less about HS recruiting now. It is pretty much irrelevant thanks to the portal, at least when it comes to the high profile guys.

I’d rather get a Braydon Hawthorne type out of HS than a guy like Crowe. Get some developmental pieces every year. I would be fine if we don’t have any Freshmen in the 10 man rotation.

I want our top 10 guys to be retention guys and portal guys.

The key to winning in this era is retention, IMHO. Freshmen phenoms will only get you so far. You need veterans to win big games.

This seems to be the only way Mizzou can land top recruits, same reason Porter Jr. committed there. I would be a lot more disappointed in this miss if it was still like the old days with transfer restrictions.

In a real world situation, if you as a mayor, state rep, etc, hired someone to get something in return, it is called "quid pro quo" and often it is seen as illegal.

Why does the powers to be turn their heads to such actions as this? It seems to me players in both college and pros are in a class by themselves these days.

I was getting ready to post that. There are plenty of great options at guard available. Pope will do just fine. To be honest, the portal may be in our best interest anyway. Freshmen are a luxury not a necessity in the NIL age.

With the game becoming older and more experienced, I think they represent less value. Unless it’s a John Wall / AD etc. can’t miss talent, maybe the money is better spent on portal players .

I don’t think Pope’s pitch sells well with the top HS talent and their handlers. He’s pretty open with how many minutes and their role. They aren’t going get a guarantee of 35+ mins and a never ending green light to shoot. If a kid can’t buy into that model, best they go elsewhere; especially if it’s somewhere like Mizzou.

I’m not too worried missing on these type of recruits. I got nothing against ond, but the staff has shown they can do a solid job of recruiting out of the portal. I think onds are slowly losing their luster/appeal in the overall scheme of today’s game.

Rather lose him to Mizzou than somebody good.

Nice to see you've crawled out from under your slimy swamp rock, crazzed.

    Oh good. You’re back.

Is anyone surprised that this is the tone and subject of Crazzed’s return?
