LSU now has # 1 recruiting class for 2015

With today's committment of Brandon Sampson (#62), LSU has passed UK for the #1 recruiting class for 2015.

If/when UK gets another recruit they should pass them again for the #1 spot.

It won't matter. They have a terrible coach. They may win a couple more games than last season on talent alone but I doubt they do much more than barely make it into the tournament again. If the egos collide and Jones can't manage them then it may turn into a huge disaster.

If LSU had been able to keep Mickey and Martin then you might have seen them improve.

As it is, they replace those two with freshmen. Hard to see Jones, who couldn't win with last year's roster, being able to win at a high level with this one.

Simmons is the best player in the group though. Future star. He isn't necessarily a guy I would peg as being the sort of player who could carry a team, but he's exceedingly skilled. Will be one of the two or three best players in the SEC next year and probably one of the handful of great players in all of college basketball.

LSU also has Hornsby, Quarterman, and Gray returning and Craig Victor (Zone transfer, top 40 player in 2014) is eligible in December.

If they aren't a top 15 team all year than Jones HAS to be fired.

Pretty sad time we're living in when commenting on a team's roster has to end with a phrase about a guy getting fired. It's like we forget these are real people with real families, and we just nonchalantly toss out comments about dude's getting fired like it's no big deal.

If in the two previous seasons had Cal had missed the tournament and barely made it in the next then his seat might just be a little warm. That's what Jones has done. If he can't have a great season with this class he has coming in then LSU should be looking in other directions.
