Thought we might use this as a place to track the class. We'll update as we know more about who's leaving, who's staying, and which needs arise.
As of now the class looks like this (per ESPN rankings):
- Skal Labissiere: #11 overall, #5 C
- Isaiah Briscoe: #13 overall, #1 PG
- Charles Matthews: #44 overall, #12 SG
Impossible to know what we'll need until next April or May, but we can assume a few things:
- Malik Newman is probably out of the picture. Not a certainty at this point, as he's listed as a SG, but between Briscoe's commitment and the recent interest in Antonio Blakeney, it seems like the writing is on the wall.
- We NEED at least one SF and PF, each. Again, can't say for certain who will leave, but there are probably going to be holes at both positions after this season. Options at SF are Jaylen Brown and Brandon Ingram; PF are Ivan Rabb, Chieck Diallo and Carlton Bragg. Bragg may commit soon, and signs don't point to Kentucky as of now. The most likely PF of the three is Diallo, as Rabb will probably choose Arizona and Bragg to Kansas. Coach Slice has worked Diallo pretty hard since he arrived and things sound good there (though not certain - but is it ever?).
- Things could still swing our way with Stephen Zimmerman, too. He (and his mom, which always helps) really likes Kentucky, so we just have to hope that Labissiere's commitment didn't slam that door shut.
Thoughts? Contributions? Anything to dispute?
