    Skyy Clark

Clark was one of those "definite UK locks" who -- stop me if you've heard this one before -- folks say has recently drifted toward another school (UNC). However, I heard today that the momentum is shifting back in UK's favor. FWIW, UK has always felt fantastic about their chances, and the uncertainty is with the people around him (again, same old story).

Anyway, it doesn't sound like this one will take too much longer. Stay tuned.

In reading up on him some, he looks to have very good size and strength for his age as well as adequate athleticism. What is his style of play like?

Most exciting thing to me about him is his shooting ability, but I read a few weeks ago that he's a terror defensively because of his length and hands. Saw last night that he'd been playing with NBA players in Nashville and was the best on the court. He's 17.

Sort of reminds me a little of D'Angelo Russell.

He's very good. Thick build that'll remind you a little of the Harrisons, though he's not as tall as they were. That's been one of the concerns about him, in fact -- that he may have already peaked, physically-speaking. He gets to the rim very well, though, and has great vision. Has a good chance to be a solid player from the start.

And as I said in another thread, we now have a legitimate chance of locking down our back court for the next four years. Askew and Mintz this year, followed by Hickman, maybe 2nd-year Askew, and a good shot at Sallis for next year. This is why I think Cal will push for Clark to stay in 2022, because after Askew and Sallis leave, Skyy could come right in and play alongside a sophomore Hickman. Then, we go get D.J. Wagner from the class of '23.

He's just a really, really good basketball player. He isn't John Wall fast and won't dunk on people like Monk. Like Will said, he has been working out and playing with some NBA guys and has consistently been the best player in the gym. He isn't flashy. Smooth like a SGA but quicker laterally.

              Nice Article here on Skyy.

              Best thing I read....
"His profile will only be raised by his next move. Clark announced this month that he will play his final season of high school ball at Montverde (Fla.) Academy, the reigning national champion and perennial contender under highly respected coach Kevin Boyle. (Clark’s father said they turned down a lucrative offer to turn pro and play in the Overtime Elite League, which has already signed four high school players, deciding that college would be the better path)."

Just hope he doesn't change his mind.

Yup, so far sounds good GoCat. I wanna say this is Skyy's fourth HS transfer, but his best choice competitively.

Definitely reiterates that he doesn't shy away from competition. Some of these kids play against lesser competition and have some great mix tapes, and put up crazy stats but it really doesn't mean anything.

Clark suffered a partially torn ACL and will miss the rest of the summer, per a bunch of people on social media.

Let’s hope for a full recovery, best wishes for the kid.

Yeah he says he's still attending Montverde for his final HS season and of course, UK. With technology these days if he has surgery, I believe he will be back in time for Geico Nationals next year; Montverde always receives an invite.
