Kentucky has racked up some impressive wins early in SEC play, but on Sunday, the Cats faced their toughest test of the season to this point, taking on No. 13 Oklahoma in a battle between two Top 15 programs in Norman.
Kentucky pulled off the win, beating the Sooners 95-86. Kenny Brooks‘ team is now 19-2 overall and 8-1 in the SEC.
The game begun with Kentucky being red-hot, getting out to a 20-9 lead before the two teams would trade buckets to make it a 30-19 game through the first period of play. The Cats shot 12-16 (75%) from the field, looking to set a trend for what was to come for the rest of the game.
As for the second quarter, it was much of the same. The two teams continued to go back and forth, and Georgia Amoore was carrying much of the offensive load by herself. At the half, she had 20 points on 8-12 (4-7 3PT) shooting to propel Kentucky to a 45-36 lead at the break.
