Kentucky Drops Home Contest to Ole Miss on Thursday

Amiya Jenkins and Saniah Tyler each scored 10 points but the Kentucky women’s basketball team lost to Ole Miss 75-45 on Thursday night at Rupp Arena.

Ole Miss scored the first four points of the game before UK got an Amiya Jenkins free throw to make it 4-1 early. The Rebels extended their lead to 8-1 before Kentucky got a Petty layup to cut it to 8-3. The Cats struggled from the floor in the first quarter, making just two of 14 shots and Ole Miss led 20-7 after 10 minutes of action.

The Rebels opened the second half with a 6-2 run before Saniah Tyler hit a three to make it 26-12. Ole Miss stretched the lead to 32-13 before Kentucky got another Tyler basket and an Eniya Russell layup, cutting the deficit to 32-17. However, Ole Miss would lead 37-22 at the half.

In the third quarter, Kentucky scored first on a Jenkins jumper and a Petty layup to make it 37-26. However, the Rebels would pull away, using a 17-0 run to close the period with a 60-32 lead.

Tyler hit a three to start the fourth quarter for the Cats. However, the Rebels scored the next five points to extend the lead to 65-35. Ole Miss would lead by as many as 32 points before settling for the 30-point win.

Kentucky returns to action on Sunday, closing out the regular season by facing defending national champion LSU in Baton Rouge. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. ET and the game can be seen on the SEC Network.

I read a Vaught's Views article, on "X", where she said she expects to be back next season.

Well I hope she's wrong. My son took his family to this game and he and his wife both said our Kentucky team showed little effort in the game and their shooting was awful. That's a lack of Coaching!
