I agree.....if we are going to lose let it be before the NCAA tournament

If UK plays that poorly on perimeter D at the FL, Texas A&M or USC away games where the other team hits those shots, it could be a very very long day.
I didn't notice this. I thought Kentucky allowed a lot of shots to certain guys because UofL has players who just can't shoot out there, but otherwise I thought our defense was as stout as it's been in every game.

We gave up a few open looks because we got hit by screens or whatever, but that happens in every game. Most of the day shots were really hard to come by for both teams.

Some of the defensive efficiency numbers that Kentucky has put up have never been seen before in the history of this sport.

I agree with thughes, UK is the only team that can beat UK. Also, I take a comment from Will, "the defense is to good." I think if we lose, it will come from a team, possibly at Rupp, who we just can't lose to because of their record, and our players have it in their hear exactly what Will said. I can't get last years game at South Carolina out of my mind, and the W. VA game. It is possible to lose to anybody, if the players think it just can't happen.

Now, I don't look for this to happen because Cal will do everything he can to to keep it from happening, and we have more players who have the "Will to win," attitude.

UK left the UL guards open because they can't shoot the ball at all. If they had hit three or four of those open looks the defense would have tightened. UL is a very bad shooting team and there was a good reason they were open most of the day.

Some of it was on moving picks. UofL is the best at that. But many were from guys just not being where they were suppose to be. There is no way Cal would give up that many uncontested shots to anyone at any distance. No way. They didn't guard as well outside as many think.

It was clear early in the game that UofL didn't really want to take threes. Pitino said before the game that it wouldn't come down to threes--it couldn't, because UofL can't shoot.

They wanted to get it inside to Harrell. When WCS took that away they started to do some stuff to try to get mid-range shots. When that failed and the game was being lost they started to look for outside shots. But most of their threes came late in the game in desperation mode.

It wasn't a great gameplan because to beat Kentucky you're going to have to hit a bunch of threes. But UofL isn't capable of playing that way with the lack of shooters they have.

There are some dangerous teams. Trouble is it will be tourney time before Kentucky hits them. That is a sobering thought for me. Hitting a team on it's stride right at the wrong time like happened to Ohio State against the Kentucky squad, or Wichita State against our team last year. This team will continue to evolve itself.
Duke has a very good.....VERY good team. Texas COULD get better, but history says otherwise. Kansas in my opinion will definitely be better....and is somewhat of an underdog to both Texas and Oklahoma in that conference. I think Louisville is pretty much what we saw yesterday....a top fifteen, perhaps top ten team but not built or balanced this season for the six game run.

If UK gets through undefeated into the NCAA.....the sale of antacids and other 'calming agents' will go through the roof in big blue country.

Well, it's true that several of the good teams will be better by tournament time. But, what is being overlooked is just how much better the Cats will be than they are now. They aren't going to be standing still while other teams out-improve them. Cal has proven that his teams improve markedly as the year goes on.......a lot more improvement than other teams. The Cats started this year as the best team in the land and the spread between the Cats and the rest is only going to widen if Cal holds true to form and the team peaks around tournament time. We started out ahead of the rest and I believe we will finish ahead of the rest.

It's going to take something really freakish for the Cats to lose before tournament time. Something akin to the WVU game where no one could hit the side of a barn. I just don't see that happening with nine great players to choose from.

I never thought I'd say this but I think they finish the season undefeated. I felt the talk last year of going 40-0 was comical. I simply didn't see it, but this year is different. If UK plays awful we win by double digits. If they hit shots, they'll destroy teams in the SEC. They're D is at historical levels and I remember all of the great UCLA teams in the 60's, and I certainly remember IU's '76 team that finished undefeated. We can do that too. And UK's depth is amazing. We can field 2 very legit teams every game and that makes things extra tough for who we're playing. They have a better shot of running the table now than they did at the start of the season.

Agreed. Do not see how all 11 guys have a bad game on the same day. We just watched Willie and Andrew not have their best game at UofL and we still win by 8. I hope we see some improvement on our offensive sets coming out of camp Cal. GO BIG BLUE>

I think everyone is in agreement with this, TBCF. If the team is going to lose, let it be during the regular season so we can still regroup and move on. An undefeated season would be fantastic for a lot of reasons, but there's going to be enough pressure on the team going into the NCAA's as it is without having the added weight of trying to stay undefeated. I do think, however, that when the loss does come it will be like others have said...on a night when the team doesn't come out ready to play, has an off-shooting night and the opponent is playing loose and hits a bunch of threes. Again, let it happen during the regular season if it's going to happen at all.

I really don't like saying this but Duke could beat Kentucky. I watched them play Wisconsin in Madison and they were a very dominant team led by Okafor. Wisconsin is very good but Duke was much better that night. Hopefully when it comes to teams who could beat us we will be up for that team and play our "A" game. I don't think anybody could beat us when we are playing our best ball.

Im with 99.9% of this post. I have heard that they wernt happy with their runner up rings, so I get the feeling this group is on a mission. And if there is night when our O isnt there, I think they'll turn up the D.

Agreed. This group IS on a mission. I don't see them losing because they are just better than everybody else. I know the best team doesn't always win, but I think with each win comes more motivation to win the next. Coach Cal won't let them overlook opponents or try to sleepwalk through a game. Like he says, that's what the bench is for. Besides, the returners on this team are looking for payback against teams like North Carolina(payback delivered), LSU, South Carolina, Florida, and Arkansas. I've been going back and forth in my mind, but I'll say it now and stick with it until I'm proved wrong(IF I'm proved wrong)...40-0!!!

I just hope we progress on offense, especially against the zone.

I could see going to Gainesville and Frazier lighting us up for 30 pts or more, that guy just doesn't miss very often, especially against us. He hasn't been shooting it as well this year, but I promise you that when UK walks in the building he won't miss.
