But about the elbow to Ulis's head--ever since the rule came out announcers have been saying "it's a bad rule, but as it's written that has to be called a flagrant foul." Today there was no question a swinging elbow was what opened Tyler's head and cost him time from the game but the officials ignored the rule and the announcers praised them for going with the spirit of the rule. I fully agree that Tyler was moving in on him but do not believe the rule has been changed. Just another example of the game being called however they want to call it. Could cost us a game sometime. Should be some accountability for officials on non-judgement calls. They reviewed the play and didn't care about the rule. Kinda reminds me of the infractions committee. Didn't matter today but com on refs!

I know that by the time I comment on a game the thread is pretty much dead. I don't like having the ipod on during games as I'm afraid of throwing it at my TV. Could get expensive. But just want to say that I claimed before the game I'd be happy with a 1point win at the bucket and that's exactly what I am with an 8 point win. Had some guys have poor games, Lville made it ugly like they do against us every year and we still found a way to win. Primarily with defense as usual but the freshman were fantastic. Still thrilled the veterans returned. The depth is terrific, but man these freshmen are STUDS!

I'm not sure UL could make any changes in their performance today, to make me worry about playing them again. I didn't and still don't, see them as a top tier team. And Mr Harrell cost himself a lot of money today, as did the Harrisons.

Louisville's 1 Assist was the lowest by a ranked team in 19 seasons! Their 26% FG shooting was the lowest since 79-80 season. Ouch!

Agreed, I think we can do much better if we meet UofL again. I do not see the birds doing any better.

Personally --- I totally disagree with all of you regarding this... It was not a flagrant foul at all. It was totally unintentional. Ulis lunged toward him as he was ripping the ball through high - accidental contact and nothing else. The flop - well, that was just stupid.

As for the Harrison's. I hate to say it but I'll be glad when their gone. I will continue to cheer them on but I was not a fan last year and I'm not a fan this year. Yes, I know they both played good down the stretch last year but they are turnover machines, ball hogs, take too many stupid shots, and the pouting and crap is just that. They are D-leaguers at best at the next level. I hope they start playing a little better soon as we still need them to produce.

They're not playing to their potential as a good half court team, lack of movement without the ball. Ulis played great, Im hoping he can step up as the 3rd legit outside threat, but he's the best at penetrating and opening up shots for others. He's the best PG on the team.

Defensively, this is by far and away the best I've ever seen in my life dating back to 82 watching DePaul.

We won even in an ugly game and that is what matters to me. The Harrisons did not play that well today but they have played well this year and I think some of us are getting just a little too critical. We have a nine day vacation before we start conference play and maybe the next game Kentucky will be playing on all cylinders.

I disagree with lumping the twins together.....good or bad. Aaron did not have a bad game at all. He played hard, showed a lot of fight and did several good things, like taking and making a couple of big shots, and he wasn't pouting. Andrew reverted.......a lot. I think Aaron has grown up and Andrew is still a baby, and we need to stop blaming one for the poor performance of the other.

Nut I think you nailed it. Also on down the road Andrew may improve a lot as well but people should not lump Andrew and Aaron together.

An unintentional foul is still a foul. In fact, most fouls committed are unintentional. They are still fouls. The high elbows rule is meant to protect players from serious injury.......cuts, a broken jaw, broken teeth, or a fractured eye socket. Players need to do their elbow swinging below head level.......that's the rule. If they make contact above the shoulders with an elbow it's a foul....intentional or not. If the contact is deemed unintentional it doesn't have to be a flagrant 1........it should at least be a common foul though.

Re: the "I'll be glad when they're gone" silliness:

Let's not forget what the Harrisons did for us last year.

                              Yesterday was one game.

And the Harrisons always get lumped together. Aaron had a bad start yesterday but was right in the thick of that game late. Had a solid second half.

Andrew was just poor, but he's had a solid season so far. Ulis is the better point guard clearly, but we're going to need both Ulis and Andrew to win a title because Ulis isn't going to be able to play at that level against all kinds of backcourts. We're going to need Andrew's strength and experience in certain games.

Andrew played great against UofL as a freshmen last year in both games. Had arguably his best games of the season. He was terrible yesterday, but he'll be fine.
