I've thought about this too.

Or what if we forgot about the pros completely and just did a draft of UK players period? Didn't have to play in the NBA. Then at the end we could have a vote to see which person's team would win or is the "best."

By the end of the draft you'd be into obscure people, but since there are so few of us there probably would be a way to draft a team of X number of guys.

(I'd probably set the size of the team beforehand so we know how many rounds. Since we're just a few people, maybe seven players? Eight?)

Sounds like the plan is a draft of former UK players. Let's have a seven man team. The list right now, in no particular order, is me, Will, Downes, Spirit, Lighthouse, Kevin, Jworld, and Uglyduckling. I will put our names in a hat and draw an order. I will put it up this evening so we give others one last chance to join.

Since this board is used more sparingly we'll have to have strict rules, I think, so it doesn't go on infinitely? If you aren't in with a pick then I guess it should skip to the next guy?

Definitely. Also, are we limiting the talent pool to a certain generation of players? I vote yes in that regard, because A.) not all of us were alive when the older greats played, so our knowledge is limited to archival stats, and B.) as we've discussed time and time again, it's impossible to compare one generation's great player to the next.

My suggestion would be to draft no further back than the Pitino era. Thoughts?

I thought about this too, but my thought is that maybe we should open it up to all players just to see what happens. It could be good debate.

At the very least we should go back to Hall, because that's Givens/Bowie/Turpin etc. I doubt if many of us would draft before that outside of obviously Issel and maybe a couple of others.

Alrighty then. Five hours in between picks or it skips you. On your next turn you pick twice. We can pick players from Hall until now. Maybe we should have a dead period at night? I don't want to have to wake up at 3AM to make a selection. Every five hours from 8AM to 11PM? That gets us an absolute minimum of three picks a day. If it drags for a week that's fine. It isn't like there's much else going on in the basketball thread anyway. Maybe we should make the rules to where it lasts until mid October.
