    No love for Isaac Humphries??

With or without Lee and without Bolden, we still got what we need up front this year. Don't sleep on this kid, if he's working hard this summer and getting in tip top shape and the game slows down for him which it will, Cal found a gem when he brought this kid to Kentucky. Not flashy but a space eater and he can shoot facing up, gritty player who plays with alot of passion....

Humphries has the potential to be an elite rebounder. Reminds me so much of Jorts.

Has no back-to-the-basket game that I've seen. That's the difference between him and Bolden: Bolden, with some seasoning, has the potential to be a very good back-to-the-basket scorer.

Humphries will go after the ball off the glass. He can face up a little, though he only hit a couple of those all year. He isn't afraid out there. Needs to just really work on that pivot game.

The news today does assure him a definite chance to get some quality PT.

One thing i like about Humphries is that he's big, should get better moving as he becomes more fit. He's not flashy, sort of a poor man white collar type of player who's just passionate and works his butt off to help his team. Im not sure if Bolden was a Karl Towns type of post scorer but hopefully Bam and company can give us baskets when the outside game is off.

Best thing about Humphries, he's still so young....

Jorts was a non factor and all of a sudden, his senior season, he started catching passes that were thrown to him. Had Enis Kanter been elligible, he would not have had a very large role and UK would have won a title that year.

In this sport at this level, you have to have something that you do extraordinarily well to be a contributor on a good team. Shooting, passing, scrappiness, slashing, blocking shots, perimeter D--you have to have a calling card.

All through his senior year, Jorts' calling card was rebounding. Particularly offensive rebounding. That made him a valuable player, and then in the last month his offense started to come on.

If Humphries has a calling card I think it could be his ability to rebound. It's going to be very hard for him to get time on this team, but if Cal wants to play Bam at the 4 Isaac will have a chance.

If I had to bet, I'd say Bam will be our 5 and Willis and Gabriel will battle for those minutes at the 4. But Humphries has a shot now.

UK would have won a title with Jorts and Kanter playing the 4 and 5 spots. Im not sure Kanter could have done anything different on that team besides get a few more post scores for that team. Kanter is very good offensively but he's still a weak defender still getting better.

Some do not consider Kanter a UK player but this is what his player profile says He's still a Wildcat in my opinion

I would never say any team would do something anymore. Not after our all star team came up short. You just never know.

I agree but I do think it's a near-certainty that we would've won had Meeks stayed. Would've been perfect for that team.

Not sure how far along Kanter was back then. Jorts may've ended up a better option with the way he grew and how he fit in. Always hard to say.

I'd be willing to bet though on the Meeks thing.

He impressed me last year. He was a 17 year old with a nice touch and can get good position for boards. He is very skilled for his size and I am hoping for more strength and footwork for low post moves.

I think kanter would have been a much more dominate post player than Jorts. Meeks was the missing link in Cals 1st year. As great as one and done players are, there are games where they just seem to freeze up offensively. In a win or go home tourney, the team with the most talent can get beat on any given night if they have a cold shooting night or the the other team is on fire.

I do not get upset if a player leaves early. Whatbisbthe alternative? Recruit a team of 4 year players and watch them get outclassed by future pros. I would rather have the best players possible and a few seasoned players to be role players that will pull them through when the freshmen get a little stage fright once in awhile.

I agree, Westtncat. I've seen too many sure things, during my lifetime, that didn't pan out.

With the decision yesterday, Humphress became a more important part of next years team. I believe he will be an important contributor.
