He's gone but the on the big stage, is ULIS really going to make a difference in the NBA???? If your a GM you have to ask yourself, how could a team with a such a great point guard as Ulis and a on of the best freshman scorers in years (Murray) and 1st round pick Skal manage to have such a up and down season??? Either the coaching or the game plan was off or against bigger stronger guards, maybe ULIS isn't as good as he's cracked up to be?????

Loved Ulis and wish him luck, but now it's time to put his big boy pants on for real. Your not going to muscle or blow by the 6'5 Westbrooks', the Walls, Bledsoe, Curry, C. Paul, T. Parker, K. Irvin, D. Williams, M. Ellis, and tthe others starters in the league. The list goes on and on and on and very few Mugsy Bogues, Spud Webb, little point guards ever truly make a impact in the NBA............................

I wish they'd drop the "special" tag. They aren't fooling anyone. I see no need in a press conference every time one of our players decides to declare. Players, coaches, parents, fans, and recruits all know the drill by now, so I don't see how this is a necessary component of recruiting at this stage of the Cal era. He's proven that he puts guys in the league each and every season. Do the players need a conference for their egos or something? Is the promise of the NBA not enough for their families? The fans sure don't want an additional parade to remind us that we're losing more players.

Just put your name in the hat and we'll wish each other well.

What? If at this point you are questioning why we had an up and down season I will question how many games you watched. It doesn't matter if Skal is a first round pick. That is based on potential and not how he played. I think it is fairly obvious that Skal only had two or three games where he looked like a first rounder. It doesn't matter how good your guards are. If you have Larry, Curly, and Moe down low you won't make long runs in the tournament. Ulis is every bit as good as Thomas playing for the Celtics. I don't think a team will draft him to be an instant starter, but a team with an older guard looking to retire in the next few years would be ideal. Imagine him being mentored by Tony Parker for a few years then taking over the Spurs. At the very least Ulis will be a very good backup to a guy like Lillard, Paul, Rondo, etc. I don't care how short he is, I think it is insane to question how good he is and wonder if he will make an impact in the NBA. Of course he will.

I really think Cal is trolling the fanbase by labeling these as "special". He knows the fans don't like it when a player leaves early and he's basically giving us the middle finger by labeling it "special".

I couldn't have said it better myself, Kevin. There are lots of positives to Cal, both inside and outside of bb, but he's not perfect by any means.

It could be that these kids wanted to announce through a presser to say thanks or to give them that last moment of recognition. Cal is all about "player first" (at least for the ones NBA worthy) and this is just another step. Does it annoy me it is labeled SPECIAL? Not really. It is likely special to those kids. I honestly think Cal could not care less about you and me as fans and what we think.

Tyler has earned his day to do it any way he wants. Special kid and player. And one will will sorely miss next year. Hope he make a gazillion bucks.

                      Find someone who isn't.

No one's upset with Ulis. He earned and deserves everything he'll get. It's Cal who annoys me in this case.

We're not in the stands, in front of the TV or on this board to root for draft status. We're rooting for UK. Cal's incessant efforts to convince us that this is the sort of thing we should celebrate are tiring and irritating.

I love Ulis but if your comparing him to I. Thomas of Boston, Ulis isn't as explosive as Thomas is, he just isn't. He may be a better a "floor general" but his body strenght and explosiveness doesn't compare. Best thing for Ulis to do is to bulk up and get ready, can you imagine what happens when they isolate and post him up in the pro game??

Back to what i said, Ulis was either exposed by bigger guards or the coaching gameplan for this team was off, that's on Coach Cal. As much as i love Cal and appreciate everything he does, Cal gets outcoached alot more than some us may realize, he just does. I still wouldn't replace all the McDonald's All Americans for a better X's and O's guy but Cal relies and depends on better athletes to win the games, always has.......

Good luck to Ulis, hope he gets drafted by Boston to be honest. C's have 3 first rounders and 3 second rounders. Would love to see Rozier traded and Boston take Murray and Ulis along with another big. We shall see.......

I think Ulis has to go even if he wasn't ready. Cal has already sold Fox on the role of playing point and he and Ulis would create a problem in my opinion. I think this is why Cal is always pushing players on, who knows what's being said during the recruitment process, you can't promise a 5 star a spot on the bench his freshman year............

I root for UK too. I think Cal trying to get us to celebrate with the players instead of whining because they are one and done is a good look for our program. This is the way it is now.
These guys are changing their lives and the lives of their families. They contributed while they were here. They never embarrassed the university while they were here. Just look down the road.
I love Cal....no he isn't perfect as another poster mentioned but he has done nothing but brought this program up. He doesn't make the news for sex scandals he makes the news by donating and raising millions for charities. And changing players' lives. And he has won a few games for the program we love.
                              Go Cats!
