JMO, how can they even be playing at all right now?

It bothers me more that they're probably going to win the championship and next to little will be said about their "issues."

Why would they not be playing? To answer your question, it doesn't bother me at all. If I were going to be upset with anyone, it would be the NCAA for not acting sooner (it doesn't appear they're going to act at all). Not many teams, with a shot to win it all, are going to voluntarily take themselves out of the running. In my opinion, U of L made a big mistake in doing that.

Doesn't bother me at all. I accept the fact that high level college basketball is basically semi-pro ball. I have no illusions that most these guys are there to play basketball and not expected to do more than the minimum in college to stay eligible. UNC obviously flaunted the rules and played the keep the players eligible game to the max. They will probably be punished somewhere down the line. Almost all of these things take a long time. So no it doesn't bother me.

It doesn't bother me that their playing when they have issues before the NCAA. This wouldn't happen, but if we were in the same situation and the NCAA was dragging their feet, we all would be glad we were still playing and would most likely encourage it. UNC has favor with the NCAA, we all know it and frankly, the NCAA knows we know it, so the NCAA is the problem not UNC.

It bothers me more that the NCAA is dragging on. I don't fault the kids who are currently playing. I expect that when all is said and done, the NCAA either won't do anything or won't do enough.

On the flip side, I would have expected Dean Smith to have more championships since his guys weren't troubled with classes.
Extremism is so easy. You've got your position, and that's it. It doesn't take much thought. And when you go far enough to the right you meet the same idiots coming around from the left.

What can you expect of a coach when you are known as the only man to be able to stop Michael Jordan?

As others have said I don't blame UNC for participating when no punishment has been handed down. But, yes it bothers me severely that UK and others have been taught our lessons in the past and that UNC is apparently beyond reproach. Maybe they'll eventually get a harsh punishment but I doubt it. Even if they do why has it taken so long when there is clearly no doubt about the bogus classes and even bogus department set up simply to keep kids eligible. There is no doubt in my mind that for most member institutions the punishment for something this broad in scope of academic fraud would have received swift and brutal punishment. Every player who took any class in that department would be considered ineligible and hundreds of wins would be vacated including a couple titles.

At one point when it fit their fancy the NCAA said there was no choice to be made--you had an ineligible player so the wins didn't happen. Of course then there was Maggette at Duke and Chalmers at KU and they decided it could be looked at on a case by case basis. All but admitted it depends on whether they like you or not!

I'm not trying to be a hater I just can't take the blow to our own reputation for past violations when others commit MUCH worse and the same governing body does nothing because of who they are. In my opinion the final outcome of the UNC case should be the determining factor in whether the NCAA has a long term future or whether the members form a new pact as they have apparently discussed in previous years as conferences have realigned.

End of my rant for today.

This is the very reason I wish the Power Five Conferences would break away and form their own governing body.

Not really, and for reasons others have said. Now, if they lose to IU then that would bother me. I hope they beat the tar out of IU.

I hope they beat Indiana too, mostly because I was convinced we were going to get clobbered by them. The IU loss didn't bother me a whole lot because I thought our ceiling was the Sweet Sixteen anyway with the abysmal draw we got.

If Indiana wins it'll make you wonder if we could've gone through UNC had we hit some shots in the IU game.

But I don't think that will happen. Too much inside for Carolina.

It does seem to me that UNC and the NCAA have some sort of "special relationship."

I'm not saying this to create a dust up - but some other fans say the same thing about NCAA and Cal. There are many convinced that Cal buys players and NCAA looks the other way.

Now, thats different than UNC having some crazy-assed academic stuff going on and if the NCAA says "its an internal academic matter" and closes the book - well, THEN it becomes reality. Right night there is just the perception the NCAA is dragging their feet. Who knows, they might have non-UNC reasons for going slow.

IMO, they'll get SOMETHING, the question is it a slap on the wrist or a bunch of vacated wins.......

It doesn't bother me if UNC wins, what would bother me is if Wisconsin won tonight!
