NCAA Tournament: Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight Thread

For as wild as the first weekend was, no mid-majors remain.

The upside of this is that there are some very good games the next two nights.

Really looking forward to Oklahoma/Texas A&M. Also think Maryland/Kansas is going to be a good one and I wouldn't be surprised to see Maryland advance.

I won't try to watch all the remaining games. I'll probably check out what should be some of the better matchups. My wife is in her office pool, so that's kind of keeping me interested.

Very entertaining game between Miami and Nova. Not a lot of fouls and teams are just jacking it up as soon as they cross halfcourt.

I thought Ryan Archidiacono was a senior in the '05 season.

Looks like several empty seats at the Yum. Good game though.

Well this was to be the year for the resurgence of the SEC. Didn't happen. A&M putting an end to the misery.

The moment was too big for A&M. I turned over at halftime of Miami and Villanova and they looked terrified.

The rout is on for Villanova. Extremely dangerous team.

                  Both games turning into blowouts.

Really impressed with Villanova in this tournament. They seem like the real deal.

There were lots of empty seats for the Villanova game. Lower arena filled in 90%, I'd guess, for the Kansas game.

For anyone that didn't look at the stats, if I told you a team shot ~53% from the field, 59% from 3pt (10-17) most would think that was the winning team, not the losing team in a 92-69 LOSS. Both Miami and Villanova shot crazy well. I thought for a moment late in the second half that Villanova might hit 70% from the field. They ended up at 62.7%, 10-15 from 3pt (66%).

The second game, was the opposite at the beginning. Kansas ended up with a decent %. Maryland was 5-25 from 3pt.....

Just got in from the Kansas/Maryland game. I decided last minute to go and asked all the Miami fans leaving until I got a free ticket. Fans from both schools were asking about Kentucky, the draft, recruiting, etc. Kansas fans were definitely more educated about basketball outside of their team. Kansas looked good in the second half. Hopefully tomorrow is a better day of basketball.

All games were decided by a large margin. That surprised me.

Apparently, Villanova isn't as weak as many thought they were.

For a year in which everyone said there would be a lot of surprises in the tournament its turned into chalk. Both regions last night have the 1 and 2 seeds playing in the finals on Saturday. Villanova will give Kansas all they want Saturday. I saw Villanova earlier in the season I could see their guards had quick hands that got a lot of deflections and steals. The white guy(I won't attempt to spell his name) is a real gamer. He does just about everything real well. Nova also has some size which they didn't always have. That game Saturday could be a classic.
Tex A&M was just lost last night. They didn't have tournament experience and it showed. Oklahoma is a good well rounded team. I think they will win but I still haven't seen Oregon play this year. Their game last night was too late for me.
                              Kentucky fan since 1971.
