Cal Says Every Player on Team, Including Walk-Ons, Will Submit Name for the Draft

Says that ultimately "it will be up to each individual player and what's best for them and their families."

We know it isn't going to happen, but wouldn't it be something if they all left.

This will be circus it sounds like. Some gm's are already starting to make comments about how they aren't going to get involved until after the date, May 25th I think, to see who is really committing to the draft.

Yeah this seems a little silly. It is what it is. As Cal said on his last call in show, the players do get the info straight from NBA people, which is a good thing. If they don't get invited then they have their answer. We just have to put up with two months of silly speculation and keeps UK bball in the news. You would hope that players make their decisions fairly swiftly, especially if we are trying to get recruits in the spring, as we often are.

Wonder what the deadline is to receive an invite? That will be the new date to wait for tomlearn who is coming back. This year, there are only a couple, maybe just one, that should even be in question.....

The Gm's could stay out of it until after May 25th and see who is left. Sounds like that will be their plan and I can't say I blame them.

Kyle Tucker points out that Isaac Humphries is the only player who can't declare because he isn't old enough.

I hope Isaac can play the point.

I read Wynyard too. This will be a big mess. I guess this is the downside of letting players pull their name out.

I expected this to be an Onion article with a link....................
Extremism is so easy. You've got your position, and that's it. It doesn't take much thought. And when you go far enough to the right you meet the same idiots coming around from the left.

I know this is Cal silliness, but why even bring this up? This us the Cal that gets on my nerves. There isn't much of him that does.

When does this sort of gimmick reach it's end?

I mean, I understand that it's all promotion for recruiting purposes, but when does he exhaust the idea so much that it starts losing its effect?

The high school kids that he recruits aren't stupid; they don't need to see Jonny David declaring for the NBA draft to understand what Kentucky has to offer.

It's losing its effect with me. I am sure high schoolers are still eating it up though. A HUGE part of me wants Cal to go after some projects and see what he can do with them. Willis is falling into that mold, but he has very little company. Of course, take all the studs you can. But they won't be there all the time.

This is a really obnoxious move.

Want to look out for the players, Cal? How about being real with a guy like Briscoe, or Skal, and help him understand that he'll be shipped straight to the D-League, where he'll play for 25k a year and live like a working stiff, just like the rest of us? Maybe talk to those guys about coming back and improving their stock; give themselves a better chance of a higher draft spot next year?

This new draft deadline is going to dilute the pool and lead to even more dime-a-dozen guys tossing their names in, making it tougher than it already was for a guy to get a real sense of where, or if, he'll be picked.

We have enough of those on the roster right now.

It sounds as if Skal will be making more than $25,000.00 a year.
