Florida Gulf Coast was the best team that played last night and would've beaten either Vandy or Wichita.

I watched the end of the 1st half of the Wichita St. game. Wow did Vandy lay an egg in the 2nd half, glad I didn't watch. Now all the SEC needs is for aTm to lay an opening round egg and the "see the SEC *really* sucks" pileons will be loud.

I saw that the SEC hired some consultant to "help" with the basketball situation. What is there to fix, they need to hire good coaches and somehow shed their "football conference only" reputation.

As usual, Kentucky is left to represent the SEC, even though A&M has a good draw compared to ours. Unlike football, there is only one elite basketball program in the SEC and Kentucky's it.

The shedding of the football conference only image will only come by a majority of the SEC schools becoming competitive both in and out of conference, in my opinion. I don't know how easy that will be. Sort of like UK shedding it's bb school image.

I didn't see Vandy but its no surprise. They should not have been in the tourney.

FGCU could give UNC a tussle. They won't win but they could scare them to death.

Two more games tonight. Southern/Holy Cross gets it going at 6:30.

I really did not see FGCU with stellar defense. Rather, I saw FDU taking HORRIBLE shots. UNC will dominate these guys and Wichita State would have beat them last night.

It didn't hurt that Gulf Coast was about five inches bigger at every position.

They looked high D1. They're going to get punished by North Carolina, but I think they can make it at least respectable. You don't see too many 16s who look like that team does.

Also think Indiana is a team that can be upset today.

Sketchy defensive teams sometimes get exposed in March. Problem is Kentucky is worse than Indiana.

If those two teams meet Saturday the scoreboard might melt.

And Michigan beat the Fightin' Frank Haiths of Tulsa last night, so the field of 64 is officially set.

Ready to get it on. First day of regular season, first day of Championship Week, first day of the NCAA Tournament = Christmastime.

Here's the schedule for today. There are games included from other tournaments, so disregard those. Duke/UNC Wilmington gets it all started at noon.

Since 2005, college football and men's college basketball television & webcast schedules.

Here we go. I'm pumped. Even CBS's lead-in music brings back all kinds of great memories.

Apparently Barkley went on a mini-rant about one-and-dones. Says that Kawhi Leonard and Steph Curry, the two best in the world, weren't one-and-dones.

I like it. Way, way, WAY too much glamorization of early entries from writers, experts, and sometimes even fans in the college game. Somebody pointed out just the other day the absurdity of how we talk about college basketball now: there's as much discussion of players' draft stock as there is winning teams.

That has to change for the survival of the sport.
