Calipari Says Ulis to Turn Pro After This Season

Not like it's a surprise at this point, but this seems to be pretty much official.

For anyone who'd like to hold out hope for a return, Cal didn't exactly confirm that Ulis will turn pro. He said, "He'll be drafted." Basically the same thing, but could just be Cal's opinion.

Cal just says he will be drafted but it seems he's pushing Ulis out the door. So this will be it for him.
        Kentucky fan since 1971.

Looks that way, and pretty much a done deal.

As has been said before, where his career is concerned, he has nothing much, if anything, to gain by returning next season.

More Cal-speak. He has nothing to lose and everything to gain by stating it. It gets teams looking at him during the tourney, because they'll now be worried some other team is going to snag him. If there is no draff interest he can still come back.

I can't see his stock getting any higher and if he goes, good luck. If he comes back, anything less than a NCAA championship next year would be a failure but i guess it all depends on how far this team goes and how much he wants to win a National Championship......

If your Cal and your telling the next point guard year in and year out that you will be my guy next year if you come to Kentucky, it's his selling point. Maybe Cal does have to push some on the next level to keep the door revolving for the next man up? Of course he would love for Ulis to come back but i doubt Fox would have committed if he wasn't going to be the starter. Gotta take the good with the bad in my opinion........

If anyone deserves to leave early, it's Tyler. Good luck to him in the NBA, but I'm gonna enjoy seeing him for what I hope is 9 more games.

Same here. In fact, i was thinking this tonight during the Alabama game. Now is the time to relax, enjoy Murray, Ulis, and Poythrees as they wind down there Kentucky career. Skal is hard to figure but if his family needs money, he's gone and i understand. Will probaly never get the chance to see the talented Skal we all thought we would get but that's okay too, he's a good kid and i wish him the best.............

Spot on, in my opinion. The Fox commitment is a very strong clue, in my opinion.

I don't think Fox committing has anything to do with it simply because he has been on board for a while. I am sure Fox knew when he picked UK there was a chance Ulis came back. He couldn't have predicted a season THIS good from him. I am sure he knew that him and Briscoe could possibly return and provide competition. I would agree if he waited until after the season to commit. I believe Ulis is 95% gone, but there still hasn't been an official announcement unless I missed it. I think it is just Cal speak to get teams and scouts to pay more attention this last month of the season. I still think he is gone, but I have thought others were gone who stayed and vice versa. It all depends on the family, schooling, and the heart/desire/personal goals of the player. Cal always said he makes his players give three reasons they want to return. Ulis might want to win a title, break more records, and possibly get his degree in three years.

You make valid points. I still believe, official announcement or not, that he's gone.
