So, correct me if I'm wrong, but Alex took a redshirt last year, so in theory he has another year if he wants. I said IF.
That's right.
Actually he probably should come back. Not going to be drafted unless somebody wants to take a flyer on him really late. Unless he just wants to finish his basketball career or try overseas, not sure what the downside would be in coming back.
Of course it would further mess up the scholarship issue at UK for next year.
Ok, well I just wanted to throw it out there. I was fairly sure this is only his 4th year and last year was redshirt. I don't think there is any downside (for UK) to him coming back other than # of scholarships available. In this day and age, UK should keep experienced players around when it makes sense!

If Alex decided to come back next year, I would imagine his family would be in a position to fund his final year, or the possibility of an academic scholarship is high, but I'm not sure how they work for post graduates.

We've been discussing athletes going from athletic to academic scholarships on another thread. I don't believe Alex could do that even if he wanted to.
Don't you need more than one year to complete that? Or are kids knockin it out in one now? Back in my day it was a minimum of two at your traditional university
