Cals comments decent. Mentioned 3-4 rebounds down the stretch (totally agree). For all you Skal fans, said Skal was better. Well, yes, he didn't have goose eggs for his complete stat line.
Ug, I changed my mind. Cals "freshmen" comment goes totally against his "I'll take talent over experience every time". He doesn't get the benefit of using "freshmen" as an excuse, IMO. It's his choice, live with it, own it.Last edited by justafan; 12-19-2015, 06:14 PM.Comment

The simple fact regarding Skal is NOT that he sucks. As critical as we can be, that's not the truth. The truth is that he is undeserving of the playing time. His production is about right for a guy that, AS A PROJECT, you put in for 8-10 minutes per game as needed for rest and fouls.
But, he should not be starting, because we can't afford the terrible drain to start a game, and he should NEVER have the ball in his hands as a part of any designed play, outside of a lob. If a player drives, draws, and dishes to him, that's fine. But, it is foolish, and frankly not very Hall of Fame-esque in intelligence to post him and actually give him the ball.
So... spot minutes. No plays. And change it as he improves. If he catches fire in a game, then leave him on and see if it takes him off.

Just returned to my hotel from the game. Poythress lost the game for us his missed free throw which could have made it a one point game if he made the bonus with 3 minutes ended the momentum.
Why did Cal keep Skal in and ignored two options who were DNP-Coaches decision Willis and Humphries? I bet the two of them could have at least matched Skal's two point performance. Skal has the worst habit a big man can have keeping the ball at waist level.
Our inside presence was nonexistent.
Why not at least try for some size off the bench? Marcus had a decent game but, each pass that came his way did not connect because he was never ready for a pass how is that the guy is a junior? Expect a pass get your hands ready to catch the ball.

Expected some losses this year and like it or not,part of the learning experience for tis team. It will get better and today i think our go to guy was finally established. Cats could have thrown in the towel but rallied back. Ohio St is still Ohio St. and i think they are a better team with good talent more than there record shows, same with UCLA. We just cant spot teams 15-20 points and expect to cone back everytime...Comment

Poythrees didnt lose the game,actually came up big and helped us get back in it. Hell, Briscoe taking wild shots under the basket or Murray playing stupid in the first half lost us the game. Tyler Ulis dumb foul cost us the game. Ohio State hitting video games 3's list us the game.. We came out flat spotted them 15 and it was a wrap.....Comment

Web,... I can appreciate being a fan, but Skal isn't getting drafted this year. I mean, he just isn't. Short of the kind of 180 degree turn that would mean he could be drafted, he won't be. He's seriously not good. In fact, he's pretty terrible. He can't dribble, can't catch, can't shoot (at least, not when he's not at the FT line), can't/won't rebound, affects too few shots, doesn't get assists, doesn't get steals, is ridiculously weak, doesn't even have good feet.
That's the truth. The kid WILL be good. He has some physical tools. But, he would be a second round project at best, and that's with the understanding that he would still need 2-3 years to be the kind of player you could make a final consideration on.
