But there are different ways to play the 5. He might be effective as a stretch 5. Pull the other team’s big away from the basket to give the guards more room. Use him in a PnR/PnP role. Defensively, we might have to use a zone or double team the post with him in there.

Potter is the other option backing up Moreno if Kepnang gets injured. I think N’Diaye would be the better play in that situation. Potter is not a banger either. Probably a little stronger, probably a better shooter, but not near as athletic.

And if our forwards all end up being good, Pope may need to find a way to generate minutes for these guys. Playing N’Diaye as a stretch 5 opens up more minutes for McBride and others at the 3 and 4 spots.
I could see that. I think this team certainly has the height to create problems for teams at the rim.

I would say the practices would be fun to watch. I'm kind of hoping this kid could be like Carr. A match up problem for other teams.

Nice Practice video. Short 40 second clip.

Thanks for posting....but.... (And I don't mean you, I know you didn't put it together)

One thing I'd really like to see in these vids.....is Momcilovic making some nice moves at the basket or dishing the ball for a nice assist. We know he can shoot the 3 ball. Call me crazy, but seeing guys do what we know they can do isn't exactly what I like to see in these practice videos.

Agree, for the guys on the vids you want to see something you are not expecting. Momcilovic hitting a 3 is like Diallo hitting a layup. I saw a video recently that show Braden Hawthorne posting up and playing through contact. That was good to see.

I didn’t think this needed its own thread but UK beat La Familia (TBT team) 31-19 in a half scrimmage.

While both teams fought hard and impressed, the current Wildcats prevailed behind great games from Ousmane N’Diaye and Alex Wilkins, and knockdown shooting from Zoom Diallo and Braydon Hawthorne

Our guard play this year may be our strongest suit. Impressive so far

N'Diaye will be an interesting guy to watch acclimate to college ball. He has been playing against grown men overseas. He will probably have some monster games, just hope he can be consistent.

Agree, and that is key if this team can be a legit contender

Nice read on Goose Givens' thoughts about UK summer practices.

Well, my biggest takeaway, and it’s noticeable because it’s kind of comparing to last year: this team seems to love practice. You know, there were times last year when I had to question whether or not they wanted to be here at practice, but it seems like — and you know, we’re only in July, man — but it seems like these guys really want to work. They have enjoyed working. They’ve gotten better.

Number two, but even more importantly, is that Mark is in a no-nonsense frame of mind. He wants — he knows they have to get it done in practice, and it’s not just him. It’s all the coaches.

There may have been more issues with last years team than we'll ever know.
so far the guys we have now seem to bond very well and this could be huge for the success of the up coming season.

The smoke has been there since late summer last year. The rumblings of guys stealing each others chicks, guys not getting along, Oweh not happy and then you saw it first hand. The way Oweh started the season. The very crappy play. Those guys could not get along in a full game all year, all year. Yes everyone pointed to the coaches but heck the fingers should be squarely on last years players as well. Lets hope this group continues to get along, build relationships (which is so much harder to do now). You have guys only staying a year, not living together, each having tons of $$$$$ and wanting to be with their own friends. If they can build that relationship (as a total unit) have that unity they can do very good things this year. Just have to wait and see if they can put it all together.

I'm gonna be careful.....but I was not a fan of Oweh last year overall. Had moments, but seemed sort of off to me. I didn't see much team play in him. Meaning unselfish play.
