They are looking to add a shooter, but he’s a Freshman reclass. Still, shooting will likely be a weakness for them. Sound familiar?

I think they will fall back a little in the SEC.
UK winning down there last year still kind of baffles me. I'm not sure how they were able to pull that one off.

Revenge factor for the returning players after getting embarrassed in Rupp the year before. They just wanted it more.

He got motivated for the first year or two after he left UK. He's settling back into form now.

Literally....that sounds exactly like practicality every Cal team at UK.... especially the last 9 years after 2015.

True. But I think it was more than his motivation to show he should have never been allowed to leave. Remember he had as empty a roster there as Pope had here that first year when he arrived. No doubt if he could have gotten 10 five star freshman that’s what he would have done—but it was way too late in the recruiting cycle for that. He really only had 3 freshman lined up that he figured he could fast track to the NBA. My point? He had absolutely no choice but to build his roster differently from what he had been doing. He invited a few of his UK guys to join him who would not have been with him again if he had stayed at UK. He begged Brazile to come back from the portal. Then he filled out his spots with old transfers like Johnell Davis.

Sure, he still leaned on Fland and Richmond all he could. But he had to rely on a bunch of juniors and seniors as well. They were a fairly old and experienced team. In fact, his team really only jelled when Fland “got hurt” and Davis and Wagner started to lead them.
