I think right now the rule is you can do an foreign tour for the practices and trip. If no trip no extras. Cannot do this at home is my understanding.

Agree, scheduling summer games at Rupp would be ideal but I'm sure the dummies at the NCAA probably have some restrictions against it

Ehh we'll just schedule a preseason number 1, beat them, get our hopes up, then go 22-14 LOL

Yeah - I thought that was probably the case. If it were allowed, flying in teams to play against you and having focused and intensive practice sessions at home base would be of more value than a trip. I've never actually seen any tangible, positive improvement from a trip.

            They can't hurt, though.

Coach Pope seems very unorganized to me. Not going on a summer trip and gaining valuable practice/ bonding before the most critical season of his career is just mystifying to me. The blasted war started months ago, why didn't he start looking for a alternative THEN. If he was too busy why not delegate planning to his coaching staff. Why has he not filled his coaching staff vacancy yet. One would think he would ALL of his staff during a critical recruiting period for 27. Especially since he didn't recruit a single top hundred kid last year, something that just defies reason and he still hasn't given an adequate explanation for.
I like the guy but the lapses and critical judgement errors are becoming hard to ignore.

I think the overall, preseason bonding is an important part of these trips. In this era, most guys are not going be living in the lodge together. So it is important to build some chemistry off the court, and these trips can help speed that up.
