Good question. My guess is—and I’d bet on it—that he knows where he’s going. But does he want to join his new team and get to work, or does he go full-Stokes with it? Play look at me for a couple weeks.

He said it will be a quick decision. So lets hope he comes to UK quickly.

        But he didn’t.

I didn't say I liked anything about him. What I'm saying is whining and complaining about every little insignificant thing that has nothing to do with wins and losses is really lame. The post I quoted was filled with ridiculous complaints about meaningless things. So he said something close to a hot mic? Who cares?! Just win. That's all that matters. Worrying about the rest is stupidity.

Yeah, but reading some of your posts, nothing equates to wins and losses. Missing on Milan won’t matter because “one guy doesn’t make that much difference.” Poorly planning a summer trip doesn’t matter because you’ve never seen any of those equate to any noticeable improvement in a team. The complaints against Pope are, for the most part, legitimate. He said outlandish things about last year’s team and produced a complete dud. He’s swung and missed on nearly every player that would have been a real help this year. So far, he’s produced pretty much what he has for his entire career. He wins about 65% of his games.

You don't know me well enough to make a statement like that. Matter of fact, you don't know me at all.... so how can you make a statement like that? You are assuming that I am not principled and that I am fine with "my coach" embarrassing me and the program. Haven't you heard the old saying about assuming? I didn't want Dan Hurley to be the coach for the simple fact that he's an absolute d**k head.

Yeah, you're right....it's great having fans from other fan bases AND OUR OWN (see here and Rupps Rafters, etc.) talk about how "weird" our coach is. That's just great. And how odd he is and some of the stuff he does. Nothing like having ESPN and other major media outlets running stories about embarrassing off the court kind of crap.

Pobilly said he didn't like Cal and called him a "used car salesman"....yet I didn't see you quoting him and telling him how wrong he was. And Cal even brought UK a national championship and a couple more Final Fours. So please spare me with your selective outrage and claims to know how I feel about anything!

I think we can safely scratch St. John's off of the list of possible suitors for Milan Momcilovic. Yessoufou pulled out of the draft and committed to St. John's.

                      Toundre Yessoufou

Well...looks like I may have spoken prematurely. According to Jon Rothstein, St. John's will STILL pursue Momcilovic even after landing Toundre Yessoufou:

It wasn't a statement about you. It was a statement about the comment. I stand by the fact that most people will not care about that list of complaints if Pope was winning at a higher level. They are only complaints when he isn't.

I agree with you about Hurley. He's not just odd, he's a jerk. And I liked Cal when he was winning, but the last 7-8 years at UK, I couldn't stand him. I agree with Pobilly that he's a used car salesman and I actually believe he's worse than most coaches we've had. I only have him as better than Sutton and Gillispie. I believe he did irreparable harm to UK. But not because of kneeling, or the odd things he said in his incoherent, rambling interviews. It was because he wasn't trying as a coach and didn't prioritize success of the program as the primary goal. And that lead to losses and years of embarrassing post season flame outs.

Well, yeah. Winning covers a multitude of sins. I think that's in the Bible (Love / Winning = same difference). But that's the problem. The high level wins aren't coming to fruition. The oddity in this whole deal is Pope has had some big wins. Beating Duke, coming back against Gonzaga, Florida, Tennessee... All really good to great wins. Then there are the head scratching losses (most by double digits). Ohio State, Gonzaga, Mizzou, blowout at Vandy.

Milan Momcilovic should make his choice soon. If he picks UK, Pope has a shot to right the ship and get back on course.

Agree. Pope has not won at the level that would make him immune from complaints like that. I'm hoping he rights the ship this coming year and has a breakout season that builds momentum for the future.

It'd be nice. I just don't know that he has the horses or the ability to acquire the horses to do it. This guy could literally make or break his career at Kentucky.
