Politics in involvment in college sports

Don't want this thread to become political but some congressional reps are encouraging athletes to not attend SEC schools due to redistricting issues. This includes BB,FB and all other sports.
the frickin government needs to stay out of sports

I’ve seen some media folks say it, but didn’t know politicians were saying it, too. It might sway a small percentage, but most of these guys are not going care because they’re just looking for the most money and exposure.

I agree, I don't think most HS OR COLLEGE EVEN PAY attention to politics.
the minority leader in the house is one who is pushing this

This issue was originated by the NAACP. At least KY is not on their hit list. Not that anything will really come of it anyway.

Politics are terrible at this point and what is worse is the media. Sadly, many people can't distinguish between them.

It's sad, I can see where politics might be able to interject into some of the craziness that's going on with the NCAA and how things are just getting out of hand, but to interject like this is ridiculous. redistricting, gerrymandering, whatever you want to call it goes on in lots of states, not just the South, it's been happening for decades. Look at some of the craziness of how districts are defined in places like Illinois, California, wherever. I don't think this lawmaker was asking kids to boycott the Virginia schools because of their redistricting. I know it's popular for them to try and make things all about race, but in the end, I'm not seeing High level athletes shunning schools like Alabama, Georgia or Texas because some lawmaker said they should boycott. These kids are following the money and prestige of playing for those schools, I don't think they give a rat's patooty about who their congressional rep is going to be while they're in college.
