Let's play a historical UK basketball game

Thought I would try and put something besides recruiting and portal into the mix. Rules of the game:

    1. You must select one player from each era (Rupp, Hall, Sutton, Pitino, Tubby, BCG and Cal)
    2. If a player straddled two coaches, he would count for the coach he played for during his last season at UK
    3. You must fill traditional basketball positions (C, F, F, G, G) and one big and one guard off the bench

    Here is mine:

    PG - Kyle Macy (Hall)
    SG - Jodie Meeks (BCG)
    SF - Jamal Mashburn (Pitino)
    PF - Dan Issel (Rupp)
    C - Anthony Davis (Cal)

Big off bench - Kenny Walker (Sutton)
Guard off bench - Keith Bogans (Tubby)

    Let's see yours

      G Rex Chapman (Sutton)

      G Rajon Rondo (Smith)

      C Dan Issel (Rupp)

      F Kenny Walker (Hall)

      F Jamal Mashburn (Pitino)

      and…

either Patterson or Meeks (Gillispie) depending on which of Calipari’s players is on the team and likely starting ahead of someone above (Towns, Wall, Davis, Cousins, Booker, etc.). That last part is a tough call, in terms of best fit with the other six.

I like the OP's starters the best, but for the sake of something a little different, I'll go:

        PG - John Wall (Calipari)
        SG - Jodie Meeks (Gillispie)
        SF - Jamal Mashburn (Pitino)
        PF - Kenny Walker (Hall)
        C - Dan Issel (Rupp)

        Bench

Big off bench - DeMarcus Cousins (Calipari)
Guard off bench - Keith Bogans (Smith)

          f Davis-Cal
          big off bench-sutton- LeRon Ellis
guard off the bench- Tubby- Davender
Ed Davender? He would be Sutton, not Tubby.

                Here’s a different one.

                G Rex Chapman (Sutton)

                G Louie Dampier (Rupp)

                G Devin Booker (Calipari)

                F Tayshaun Prince (Smith)

                F Walter McCarty (Pitino)

Even without Tony Delk, with Jodie Meeks from the Gillispie years, and Jack Givens or even Jay Shidler or Troy McKinley as the Hall era player, good luck defending the 3.

Louie is a good pick. My original PG was Ralph Beard, who is the most decorated PG in UK history...and it's not even that close.

I think Dampier is pretty underrated and underappreciated. Two time All American. 15,279 points in the pros, with 4,687 assists and 2,543 rebounds at 6’0”. He’s in the Hall of Fame. In his mid 30s he still averaged about 7 points a game as the back up for a younger Hall of Famer (George Gervin) with the Spurs.

You and I might be around the same age. I had that Mashburn poster on the wall in my bedroom.

I'll be 44 in June. I still have that Mashburn poster in my basement!
