It has gotten alot worse since the merger. I am convinced that it is being done and promoted by ownership and Mods to try to force folks into getting a paid account so they can shut down the free accounts

Without knowing all the particulars (because I was never a member there, just a lurker), I have to say that sounds pretty accurate. That's just kind of the vibe and feel that I get, and it makes a lot of sense. Also, you're 100% spot on about what it USED to be like a while back compared to now.
