OT: 15 greatest college bball teams

These are always subjective, but I enjoy reading them; especially when UK is involved in it.

    #2. 1996 Kentucky

"They ranked No. 2 in steals and turnovers forced, and they were top 30 in blocks, and they won by an average of 22 points per game."

    #15. 2012 Kentucky

"It took a buzzer-beating shot from Indiana’s Christian Watford and a weary performance by the Wildcats in the SEC Tournament championship game to keep them from joining the elite group of undefeated champions. But this was less a perfect team than a frightening one."

As part of our SN 140 celebration, we asked a panel of Hall of Fame basketball writers to select the top 15 college teams of all time. Spoiler alert: UCLA did well in the rankings.

I guess they had to leave off the 2015 team since they didn't win a NC, but finishing 38-1 seems pretty damn great to me.

If they sealed the deal and won the natty that year they most likely rise from #15 to #1!

I would still have voted for the '96 team over 2015. I feel like people forget the several close games the 2015 team had the last half of the season and the post season.

I'd say 1996 would beat them 6-7 times out of 10. Especially with Pitino coaching.

It's close. The depth is pretty equal, top talent (with KAT, Booker, etc.) might lie with the 2015 team while coaching (Pitino) definitely lies with the '96 team. Since the '96 team sealed the deal while the 2015 team didn't, it's a moot point.

I loved the 2015 team, but I agree that I think 1996 would beat them. I would probably say 2012 UK beats them, too.

I would say 2012 would beat 2015 also.
