I didn't watch much CBB during the season, but I've tuned in during a few games thus far in the tournament and it appears to me that the refs are allowing a whole lot more hand checking, body bumping, pushing, etc. during the tournament games. While that allows the players to play more, I think that's a bad decision by the NCAA. These teams have all played <30 games with their games called one way and, now, in the tournament they are being called a much different way. I'm guessing for some teams that are more finesse, the lack of whistles was a pretty big disadvantage when playing teams that play more physical. I saw at least a half dozen collisions every game that I thought would be a foul (and would have been called in the regular season) that the refs just let 'em play. And there is a lot of hand checking, dribblers swatting defender hands, offensive players hooking with their elbow, etc. - all of which were called during the season.
I've also seen a BUNCH of players take 2+ steps without dribbling that hasn't been called but I don't recall if that's similar to the regular season or not.
Just odd that tournament refs have obviously been told to overlook situations in the tournament games that were certainly called during the regular season games that I watched. Changes the game and strategy significantly, imo.
