I agree but the problem is if we have a bad year next year what will happen with the assistants? Would OA do bc a one year contract just to get back to Lexington? Is his family still living there? Pope is a dead man walking but Antigua would be a great start.

That is the whole problem, who the hell is Brooks or Fox, what have they ever done to deserve a seat at Kentucky's table??

Pope needs to hire some real talent...

Brooks was the top assistant under Scott Drew at Baylor for 8 years and was a really good recruiter there helping them win their national championship. It was considered a huge get when he moved from Baylor to us and was the top assistant here. He will have no problem landing a new gig. I'm really worried that this is similar to Mark Stoops and his OC's....the problem was never the OC's, it was the HC. Getting rid of two guys who came in with reputations as great recruiters in Hart and Brooks because they struggled to get recruits seems like a very specific problem related to their time at UK.

I think in the case of Hart, he was under a 2 year contract and the choice was made by Kentucky not to renew it. He must have known for a while that either they weren't going to renew it or he had already decided to move on, because he had landed the gig at SMU as soon as it was announced that he wasn't returning.

With Brooks, it sounds like it was a mutual thing, but I never heard whether his contract was up, or of it was him or the university (Pope) that decided that he should part ways.

I'm not disagreeing, I'm just pointing out that he wasn't some shmo and an unknown when he came here. It was a huge hire and considered one of the best recruiters in college basketball. I'm not sure he's the reaosn why he wasn't getting it done at UK.

And Mark Pope isn't going anywhere this offseason. It's not even worth discussing.

Either way, both Hart and Brooks came in with a reputation of really good recruiters and for some reason, couldn't get it done here. I'm not so sure that's on them.
