I am also curious to what is happening behind the scenes regarding the assistant coaches stepping down and changing jobs.I haven't heard anything from Pope or Barney,we may never know why .
Come on guys. This is the norm any more. When a season goes terribly wrong and the head coach keeps his job, there has to be changes to his staff to warrant more years. This is a move for next year and if is goes bad to get a 4th. There would be blame on staff changes at the wrong time and it causing issues with getting players here and such.
From my understanding, Hart was brought in specifically for his recruiting capabilities. Judging from the fact that we had ZERO recruits from the 2026 class prior to him leaving AT SEASON'S END.... and I can see why that move was necessary. The same could be said for Brooks. I was under the impression that he was Drew's lead recruiter at Baylor, but two years in and I haven't been impressed.
Fox was only brought in because he gave Pope his first opportunity in coaching while he was at Georgia. I don't think anybody expected him to be here long... actually, I thought he was "supposed" to be the GM.
Consider this: Pope only had Cody Fueger as an assistant for nearly all of the 2024 transfer portal recruiting period...and he assembled that team practically by himself! And I think we all agree that Pope's first year squad had better roster construction than this past year's team.
