Tommy Lloyd s got some studs on that Arizona roster.

So does Jon Scheyer at Duke.

They're younger, and don't have as long of a track record, but I like the guys they're bringing in these days better than who Cal is bringing in.

On the court his old school ways don't work but off the court, name someone who's recruited the best of the best more than Calipari the last 20 years????

      I will wait!!!!!

      Thing is,he don't beg either.

Still, as I mentioned, he would be a Pat Riley style GM in college, dude Still knows how to sell..

Recruiting and winning are two different things. Dean Smith recruited the same way. He had Michael Jordan for 3 years. One title....one FF.

Cal also recruited Devin Askew....Ski Lab kid...and many others that were bad moves.

He also went 9-16....I'm glad he left....last 5 years were bad

True. Because if the goal is to win games and make a run at titles the best recruiters are recruiting the best players—not simply the best freshman. Several guys are doing that better than Cal. Sure, if your goal is to claim you made players into NBA stars then you need the top freshman. Enjoy that Arkansas.

I wonder why Cal doesn’t subtract from his running total of former players’ earnings for each player who came to him as a 5 star freshman who failed and went elsewhere and become better players (Fland and Hopkins for example)? Or how about a kid (Wagner) who was the best player in his class for 3 years of high school who developed into an afterthought as a junior while still playing for him? I don’t dislike Cal, but he’s no longer a very good college coach. He barely beat High Point to make the elite eight. I’m not blown away.

Again, I wasn't happy with the coaching part but I do think he would be a good GM. Cal has enough bs in him he can sell..

I don't think Cal is into the highest bidder stuff, he still works it old school way painting that picture of the NBA and a real long term pay days.

Anyways, it don't matter. I hope Pope brings in some UK alum to support him and who understands it, Pope can't do this alone with folks that don't understand UK in my opinion..

I don't think anyone else really wants to coach at Kentucky anyways, may as well stick with what we have, at least he is committed and wants to be here.

He starts winning, all the bs goes away and it's the best job ever...
