So come back to Kentucky for the MONEY and showcase for the NBA with stats, all about Moreno right????
You see the problem in all that???
What makes me think there is a good chance he's gone???
He's 7 foot, he's still young, he actually had a decent season in the SEC.
How many other players have you witnessed in the past who went pro and actually was drafted and didn't do anything basically at all??? Calipari can attest to that, look at all who left just because maybe they had a good few MINUTES of run in a game...
He may love Kentucky so much he stays 4 years but if he does leave, just don't be surprised..
Make no mistake about it, Kentucky basketball is a dumper fire right now and everyone knows it.
Pope decides to go on X and post yesterday for whatever reason why, is he crazy?????
Just like that over 2 million people are looking his his tweet, that was yesterday.
This is not a game, nothing funny about it.
i get it, Pope loves Kentucky. Guess, i love Kentucky too, will guarantee I have loved Kentucky way longer before Pope ever heard the name Kentucky.
Can you name a actual Kentucky fan that actually feels good about the state of Kentucky basketball right now??? Just one.

Unless he suffers a achilles or whatever type of injury and that's that..
As long as he has a big insurance policy in place, i guess it's all good.Comment

Don't hate the players hate the game. Do i like it, hell to the no.
To us Kentucky basketball is sacred Holy Ground but to the rest of the world and these young people, all that don't mean nothing. We still living off a name and Legacy from a school that's won how many titles the past 40 years and has literally done nothing the past decade.
Now again, I think Cal's coaching sucked towards the end or maybe he and MB was so distant the man just didn't care anymore, who knows?
All i do know is that UK hasn't been nobody for years, just a big name to sell tickets and pack arenas for other schools, poster board materials.
The good players that came to Kentucky was because they trusted Calipari to get them next level over the many other coaches out there.
Pope can't recruit, it's a problem, he gots to go, period!!!
No sugar coating it, it sucks. Stevie Wonder Ray Charles can see it!!!!!!
Even with a good season, a magical can't believe this, it's fool's gold, will not last without good players. It's about players and nobody wants to play here, it's a problem.Last edited by KentuckyWild2020; 1 day ago.👍 1Comment

Guys are 100% returning to college for the money these days when in the past they would have left for the NBA. It's the new world.

Times have changed though. You cannot compare guys leaving now to guys leaving before. There are a number of guys under Cal who left that would have stayed in the new world. They left because they had no option for money in college. Guys like Chris Livingston, Kahlil Whitney, EJ Montgomery, Jarred Vanderbilt, etc.
I'm not sure what your rant about Kentucky basketball in the second half of your post has to do with Moreno's decision. The guy is going to make around $3 - $3.5 million next year.Comment

Since the portal opened, I've been one cautioning not to overreact too early, as people were projecting Potter and Zyon to be rotation players and our roster to be "OVC quality." And I'm not panicking to THAT level... but I'm more than a little worried. It's looking like we're not gonna land any big time stud forward like we really needed. And while a starting lineup of Diallo, Wilkins, Kam, Ndiaye, Moreno is fine, it doesn't get us substantially better than last year.
And the longer we go, the more I worry about the bench. I see 5 of our guys as 3rd string quality: Zyon, Mason, Morton, Noah, Potter. That leaves McBride and Hawthorne as our only "worthy" reserves. While I'm sure we'll add SOMEBODY I'm less and less sure we'll add somebody meaningful. Need a backup center and need a reserve shooter, at minimum. I said at the start of the portal that my most-likely scenario is we ended up with a roster about as good as last year's, but hope the pieces fit better. Now I'm here hoping our bench ends up being even as good as last year's.👍 1Comment

personally I'm going to remain positive
we may still land a couple of players that can have a real impact. Don't know who or where they might come from but there is a.lot of time left, maybe an overseas player or two.
Maybe one or two of tthe guys already on board will be much better than advertised.
I think We'll eventually get a Euro and a US player to fill our two remaining needs, a back-up center and a perimeter shooter at the 3.
I know it looks a little bleak right now but i refuse to let the doom sayers rule my outlook.
stay positive my friend

I'm not so sure that Pope realizes that Kentucky is a dumpster fire right now. I'm sure he'd care if he did, I'm just not so sure he realizes it. I see him continuing to do things in a manner that has me and several million fans questioning if he truly does understand.
And to answer the second part above (Is he crazy?????).... I'm reminded of the old saying about insanity. "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result". Considering Pope's difficulty assembling a roster and a coaching staff on a consistent basis and his propensity for putting his foot in his mouth and saying embarrassing things (some of which should remain behind closed doors) and just how he's going about things in general....maybe he is. Seriously. Because for someone who "understands the assignment", he sure does seem oblivious to the fact that "it ain't working".Comment

I can’t believe Pioe did this whole Q&A deal.Pope answers some of the fan questions. Here you go.

The first answers does not make him look any better so far. Stating all in on Stokes. KSR week or so ago reported they tried to contact Pope to tell him Stokes had already signed NIL paperwork with Kansas.
Interesting is that when he went to Israel he ended up going to 3 other places and then back to USA for 4 or 5 cities before getting back to Lexington.
I am guessing he will add a couple of pieces yet. Said to bulk up the Center position and such.Proverbs 25:24Comment

The fact that I believe Jon Hood was better than a 6'1 hobblin midget out there running like he had something stuck up his arse, I will take that to my grave. The same jon Hood who schooled Bledsoe a few times before the Kentucky era began, the same Hood who was punked all summer long by Patterson and company (Instructed by wildman Billy G while he laid up drunk in the pool with young girls) to toughen up Hood just to make sure he was Kentucky worthy.

Now with all that being said, maybe he wasn't the same after his injury but I still think he was better than Lord of the rings hobbit Julius Mayes.
What's crazy is that in the end when Hood was starting to get a little clock, folks was saying "where did that come from?"...
It don't matter, Hood is history but you never know what may have been, could of been a decent player off the bench.
Josh Harrelson was in the same boat until the NCAA said you can't play Kanter, Cal had not choice but to get Josh on the treadmill and play him. If Kanter would have played, Harrelson would have been another Hood 2.0 in my opinion.
Now with all that being said, back to the right now of Kentucky basketball. I don't like the fact Pope is in a 0-50 slump with a batting average of .073 but who knows, maybe just maybe these dudes he picked up this year off the radar actually become the next Harrelson or past UK alum who exceeded all expectations and then some, that's where we are, living on a prayer....Comment
