South jones ....Pope just had the trifecta play him for more money. Rob Wright, Donnie Freeman and now Tyran Stokes. All 3 apparently used Kentucky to up the offer from where they really wanted to be.

I keep one thing in mind, it's Mark Pope's job to lose or retain the head coaching position at the University of Kentucky. Time will tell if he is making stupid recruiting decisions.
I hope for the best, there are still some good options out there.

Do not care about who does not commit. They are out of site out of mind. Now we move on and it looks like McBride was just waiting to confirm Stokes was not going to UK. We move on. There are others I am sure we are looking at including a 2027 guy that might reclass. Plus guys that are testing NBA waters and finally Euro guys. We have 4 spots left. Like it or not, Pope is now a lame duck coach. This is his last season, in all likelihood.
I hate it for him, he is one of us.
Hate that Barnhart put him in this situation.
He is in waaaaay over his head and is drowning.

No more sugar coating, it's time to honest, dude can't land the big fish at all. Players we get are B Players and we offer the biggest bag. Before Kentucky, what has he ever won, BYU's program got better overall when he left. Team chaos, lop sided losses, crazy substitution patterns, I know he's a smart doctor but does his coaching ability eally outweigh his flaws? Is he that great of a coach?? All of this because one guy was straight up honest and told you it was all about changing kids financial lives while the other guy says he loves Kentucky???? Really, is this a joke? I know alot of people who love Kentucky but if you throw a bag in their face they will sit courtside at a Louisville game in all red with a straight face..
Without all that being said, thats not the worst part about it. I don't think he has a good feel for the game on the sidelines and players don't respect him, he tries way to hard and gets nothing in return, these kids run over him..

I disagree with above poster. We supposedly had a " Ferrari" roster last year and it didn't pan out.Pope did much better with his first team which had less talent. I want to see our final roster play together next year before rendering judgement. To give up on a team still being formed before they even play seems ridiculous to me at least.Comment
